While the title is on my pull list, I haven't picked up any of the alternate covers yet. I can usually pick up alternates for decent prices online from either ebay or sometimes Midtown or Lone Star...

And the 80s as well. Since the OP stated they were looking for the 50s & 60s, I wanted to let them know that Velvet, as good as it is, is not set in the 50s & 60s.

Velvet is a great book, it's my favorite current series. However, it is set in the 70s with the occasional flashback to the 50s & 60s.

I'm a big fan of the Wild's End series. It reminds me a bit of Wind in the Willows meets War of the Worlds. The little added items in each issue (newspaper articles, etc.) help to provide backstory...

While I like the experience of picking up floppies and chatting with the people at my LCS, the cost is having me liking the trade paper collections more and more. I'm starting to switch my purchasing...

Frankly, the argument in this thread is a perfect example as to why I'm not a fan of superhero comics. In my opinion, the dogmatic adherence to absurdly complex canons distracts from the enjoyment....

Other than the 3D, I found nothing of value from the movie. I doubt that the comic will draw me in either.

Does anyone know if this is supposed to be an ongoing series or a set number of issues?

He's also coming out with another war series "Dreaming Eagles" based on the Tuskegee Airmen. I have his "War Stories" on my pull list and really enjoy it. However I can't add any more to my list...

Don't remember exactly, but The Unknown Soldier would be a good guess.

The only Avatar title on my pull list is "War Stories" by Garth Ennis. A great series that reminds me of the war themed comics of my youth. I also liike the format of a few issues per story line.

Any word if this is going to a long term series with one story line or multiple, unrelated 3 or 4 issue story limes like Ennis has been doing for War Stories?

Well that bites! I picked up the first trade and really enjoyed it. Now I'll have to decide if I want to pick up the last loose issues to read an unfinished story.

I've never been much of a super hero guy. However, that is the predominate comic genre.

Velvet gets my vote. After how many delays, it was great to finally see where her story goes next. Talk about kicking down the door for her entry into the United States.
