1956: Comics Code Authority tries to censor "Judgment Day"[edit]
In the 1950s the portrayal of a black man in a position of authority and a discussion of racism in...
I'd say the main core of DC's output during phase 2 (post Forever Evil) prior to DCYou was geared towards headline crossover events reaching across whole lines of titles which can now be bought in...
Trying to use SJW as a derogatory term is lost on DC fans. Are you trying to diminish someone by saying that they like Justice!?!
Laurence Fishburne playing Perry White in Man of Steel barely raised an eyebrow though a black man as Chief Editor of a mainstream newspaper when the character was first created would have been...
Make Captain Comet gay, Phantom Stranger and Martian Manhunter bisexual and Batwoman's legacy is already a lesbian. The link here is that these are the only 4 new characters created between the last...

3 great Batman stories.
I really enjoyed the Huntress and was really surprised when it ended at #19.
Shade the Changing Man and The Sandman were amazing.
This thread just inspired me to search for images of the Wayne graves and some do feature Christian crosses while many do not.

Yes. The later 2 can be read as a standalone story in the New 52. There is also an omnibus which brings all 3 volumes together and makes changes to the later 2 to bring them into line with the...

The first volume came out before Flashpoint so, while there are only 2 volumes from the New 52, there are 3 in total.

Looking at this image from Flashpoint 5, it's clear that the characters have morphed into the New 52 versions. Not only do they look different, the implication is that they have also had...
I've read plenty of DC Comics from throughout the ages and I don't think any of the elements listed in the article are crucial to the current continuity or the ability to tell good stories within it....

In Seven Soldiers, I think Morrison himself answers this effectively in Mr Miracle #3. Shilo Norman meets Baron Bedlam and sees that the Baron has been replicating himself (and letting the...
I actually think it's pretty difficult for anyone to claim that DC doesn't care about its past given the amount of reference to and reverence for it DC shows.
This book is a dream come true
Dan Didio is one of the best things ever to happen to DC Comics.
Scott Lobdell has been one of my favourite writers at DC since the reboot.
If you want to know about Batman in the New 52/DCyou, just read the 3 volumes of Zero Year for his origin (and the tie-in companion volume if you have an interest in any of the other heroes), Volume...
If it ain't broke don't fix it
I'm not particularly disagreeing with you. I'm just saying the term post-Crisis strikes me as a fallacy because the immediate post-Crisis was not a new continuity.
In other words, in the timeline...
Not really though: COIE #12 had a cover date of March 1986. Batman, Detective, JLof A etc continued the old continuity post-Crisis for another 8 issues and everything that happened in those months...
The term 'post-Crisis' is actually a pet peeve of mine. The new continuity actually began with the cover dates of October 1986 when the Legends storyline and the Man of Steel mini started coming out....
Thanks for sharing. Hoping DK3 can be as boundary changing as all Miller's Batman work has been.
