This is a very nice breakdown. I honestly feel COIE caused longterm damage to the DCU and Flashpoint was kind of the redux of that, haha.
I don't know how much history Rebirth is going to bring...
Flash-Jay Garrick 12
Green Lantern-Alan Scott 20
Sandman-Wesley Dodds 20
Hawkman 14
Doctor Mid-Nite-Charles McNider 16
Starman-Ted Knight 9
Wildcat-Ted Grant 20
Black Canary-Dinah Drake 19...
Brave and the Bold #197 did show how Earth-2 Bruce and Selina revealed their identities to each other, and what made them decide they want to be together. So while we weren't shown the engagement...
This + 100.
Also, Power Girl has always been a member of the classic Justice Society. Like Helena Wayne Huntress, she was created FOR the Justice Society. You either embrace every Justice Society...
Anything is fair game at this point. For all we know, New 52 Earth-2 could turn out to be the Justice Society's dimensional prison, or could just turn out to be a parallel Earth in the DC multiverse...
I don't know if you've been reading "The Button", but there is no indication that they will write Helena Wayne out in favor of Bertinelli or that Power Girl will get a new origin again. If DC brings...
That's what I think is happening as well. You could turn out to be right.
This is certainly an interesting theory. I don't know if you've read Trinity #8, but it was implied there that Dr. Manhattan or Mr. Oz may have been collecting various DC characters from the DC...
This 100%.
We got a glimpse of pre-Crisis Earth-2 Dick Grayson as Robin in Nightwing #17, and we got glimpses of the pre-Crisis Earth-2 versions of Batman and Superman in Trinity #8. Beyond those, I think only...
You're not the only one. About 90% of my DC collection is pre-Crisis Earth-2 comics, some New 52 Earth-2, and the pre-Crisis Earth-2 Convergence tie-ins. What strongly resonated with me about the...
That only works for long. It might work at first, but spend too much time doing events and crossovers that lead to constant status quo changes and relaunches--especially back to back like Marvel...
I'm actually interested in seeing these characters again and I'm very much in the "bring back the real Justice Society" crowd.
I think Dan Abnett closed the series with some interesting concepts...
Pretty much. Robinson leaving the title was the worst thing that happened to this series. Any good that came afterward was few and far in between at best, and terribly executed at worst. It took...
All of Dan Abnett's run starting with issue #8 of Earth-2: Society. The Earth itself doesn't get restored until issue #17, but you still need to see how it got to that point.
If DC is basically just re-establishing pre-Flashpoint history with Rebirth, they'll most likely just reinstate her as a refugee of the pre-Crisis Earth-2. I just hope they bring back pre-Crisis...
I'm on the east coast, yeah.
I'm not going to continue this argument since we're now just going in circles. But I think we can at least both agree that this Earth-2 was an editorially mismanaged mess defined by a series of bad...
Agreed. They gave it a proper conclusion but also left it open to be revisited again in the future.
It was a nice send off and everything ended on a better note at least. It might get revisited once DC Rebirths the Justice Society on Earth-0, but I am admittedly ready to move on at this point.
From Comic Chron
Robinson's Run:
Earth-2 #1 - 86168
Earth-2 #2 - 68342
Earth-2 #3 - 67403
Earth-2 #4 - 67393
Earth-2 #5 - 61529
Earth-2 #6 - 58271
Helena rescued his kid from the Ultra-Humanite in the Earth-2: Society annual, and "Dick" himself was killed by the Ultra-Humanite in the last issue.
Same. I want a Justice Society book that's actually about the Justice Society. I have ZERO interest in having Batman or Superman on the team and nothing killed my interest in "Earth-2" faster than DC...
Robinson's run was successful because he was doing a modern take on the Justice Society and the Golden Age mythos. Taylor's run still saw high sales but they were not as high as Robinson's run since...
