In other words, writers are always having to come up with interesting stories. Because it's not interesting when things go according to plan.
Their goal is not to be right or even convincing. It's enough to have attention paid to them.

Just throwing this out there to calm down some of the apocalyptic claims
You raise a good point, but I also think it hurt them to try to use familiar characters to continue a story that already had a satisfying conclusion. Worse, that off screen these heroes suffered...
This is true, but I think this initial result is enough to make rival studios not be quite so frightened of releasing a potential blockbuster against a one month Star Wars window.
Of course,...
Apparently I have a different understanding of "explain the tech" than you. I am pretty sure, for instance, no movie explained how the Death Star gets the energy to destroy a planet, let alone move...
Key word being movie
I'm trying to think of a single instance of a Star Wars movie explaining any tech
I'll meet you this far. I can fully imagine that Lucas kept his options open was was prepared to deviate from his original storyline depending on actors' availability and audience reactions. But to...
So....The first six episodes had no plan or over-arching story, Lucas just got away with it as he went? The last three episodes had no plan or over-arching strategy, but they didn't get away with it?...
You're blinding yourself to things that clearly are there, and it baffles me why anyone would choose to do so. If the intent of the scene was as you describe, then the dialog choice makes no sense....
I believe the next 10 year arc is going to be Secret Wars. Makes sense given the scale of the characters they have/will have far more than a Skrulls thing. And there are a lot of elements of that...
Action scenes yes. But not dramatic scenes, and scripts will be written to ensure all dramatic scenes are performed mask-less, even those in the middle of a fight. See Black Panther.
I don't know how fair this is, but I found it to be an interesting take

I think it's clear he did it out of desperation, and had no idea if it would actually work. He tried calling out to Ben but had already been told Ben couldn't help him (which I never really...
I really hope I didn't just turn 7 pages into 14
Clearly the answer here is to cast an African-American as Hal. That will solve all the debate.
Steve vs Tony split the Avengers up at the most pivotal moment in the history of the universe.
Deleted post. My apologies to everyone for replying. I didn't notice until now who started the thread.
So your position is that the Lucas-approved first draft publication of The Star Wars is...what...made up after the fact? I'm confused about what you're suggesting here. Leia and Luke being siblings...
Dropping Netflix for disney+ waa a no-brainer for me. I hardly ever watched it. Their original content is largely unappealing to me, and they didn't have enough content I'm already familiar with and...
Apparently I wasn't clear in my original post about what I was asking. We can go on ad nauseam about who the next big antagonist is going to be (and we will on many threads). My question is what two...
Luke and Leia were siblings in the earliest drafts of the movie, back when their name was Starkiller. What changed in the planning stages was only that Lucas chose not to reveal their relationship...
