I don’t understand why this line should particularly rankle either. Maybe I’m reading “Babies, babies, babies” in my head with a different delivery than you are.
I didn’t read the Finch run, but I was on these boards and I recall the way folks howled over that “vegetative injustice” line and this battle. I didn’t get the uproar. But you’ve sort of made me...
Charlize Theron as Circe...or Artemis...?
We could get Diana back to the the island with some interpretation of The Contest.
I knew it! Haha
Cover looks like a Bronze Age homage:

This art is entrancing.
I love that Patty Jenkins and co. made an anti-Trump superhero film that just happens to coincide with the Sociopath-in-Chief at his worst.
I knew there’d be a sword and shield before I even opened the thread. Other than that, it’s a nice variation on the golden age costume.
Thanks for directing me to this article. I’m glad I read it.
The Amazon tournament.
The tiara use (though, in retrospect, I’m not sure why Diana is hiding her exploits)
All the innovative uses of the lasso
The “invisible jet” (even though Zeus made it...
Is this question for me or someone else?
I think Jenkins can direct action well. I started the thread to find out if people who think she didn’t deliver with WW84 felt the same way about the...
Pretty much agree with this. The action was different intentionally for storytelling purposes. This was not a war movie. There is action, but it’s not violent action. When people say it was dull...
...Whom do you credit for the action in Wonder Woman 2017? Or did you find the action lacking in that movie also?
Anyone want to share their thoughts?
Cheetah retained her intellect and awareness. It made sense for Diana to try to reach her with reasoning. Cheetah wasn’t on a rampage, harming innocents.
But yeah, they could have created...
I like this idea of an opening fight with Giganta. If they could pull off the “giant” effect as well as the MCU has...
Re Silver Swan. I’m fond of the character, but isn’t her origin a lot...
Why would Diana go all-out in a fight with Cheetah, though? Barbara was her friend and a good person and not at all in control of what was happening to her.
I could get behind Circe as the Big Bad. If other villains appear, let them be cameos. Don’t bog down the film with multiple villain origins. Cheetah could play an integral role because her back...
Donna Troy is the second most popular character in this poll and she’s never in the book and her backstory is a convoluted, hot mess. Wow...
I don’t see it.
EDIT: I did not vote for Cassie,...
I thought you were very upset that there was no sword and shield action. Then I scrolled back several pages and came across your first review of the movie and saw that you raved and said not a word...
One more thing, Diana shouldn’t have (apparently) been friendless. They underutilized Natasha Rothwell. She could’ve been patterned after Becca from Walt Simonson’s run, maybe.
Okay, I’ve watched the entire thing. I doubt I have any illuminating thoughts that aren’t already in this thread. So I’ll be brief:
At the conclusion I felt much more satisfied than I did at the...
I did something an armchair movie reviewer should never do. I gave an opinion about a movie I hadn’t finished watching. When I said both movies were letdowns I still had an hour to go on WW84.
...
Even though both movies have been letdowns to me, I like the fact that Patty Jenkins is getting to complete a trilogy. Jenkins’ and Gadot’s characterization of Diana has never been the problem.
If only we could go back to D. W. Griffith’s time and put a stop that trend.
