I find it a little annoying that both Thor and Sif's ability to move between realms has been forgotten or ignored.
Black Winter. Aaron was off the proverbial rails by this time.
I actually liked that Fraction put Don Blake to rest. His run was terrible because of the horrible characterizations of Thor and Odin (which, unfortunately, continued well past Fraction). He had some...
This was such a great run! Story, dialogue, art, and lettering meshed seamlessly. Simonson simply loved the characters and wrote them with great enthusiasm and respect. There was so much LIFE in...
The Odin Force is a major casualty of the Marvel Universe. Galactus was once below Odin in power. Then he was made into a "cosmic" being and elevated above pretty much everyone. They others were...
This became a staple under Fraction for no reason at all, really. Aaron took it to the nth level. If he doesn't, his general storyline doesn't really work. If Odin was actually wise and fatherly...
And with Aaron writing it, we can expect yet another Thor humiliation....
Yeah, Marvel has been de-powering Thor for some time now.
It would be a standard Aaron move.
True. His own power, in the past at least, has been shown to be greater than the Power...
Best post in the thread. Just wanted to note that.
Aaron has basically treated Odin far worse than he did Thor. It will be a relief to see a new writer on the book that shows respect to Odin's character in particular.
It's been some time since I saw these!
"Ernie Chua" at that time! LOL! Loved that early pairing even more than their later collaborations (from issue #72 on, I think).
Aaron has pretty much destroyed every character in Asgard, IMHO, especially Odin. Thor has pretty much been at a continual all-time low throughout his run.
The Cimmerians and Picts are hereditary enemies, dating back to the time of Valusia and Atlantis (the Atlanteans are the distant predecessors of the Cimmerians). Conan's hatred of Picts is well...
I was okay with the first issue but I almost threw up on the second. Gigantic snakes Conan kills with a single blow of his ax and/or sword, no fear registering in the character at all? I could mark...
Thomas, Buscema, and Palmer! Followed by Simonson! The Golden Age of Thor, without a doubt.
As to Odin's "dodgy" character, Aaron has abused him into absolute despotism. He and Thor rarely saw...
Aaron's version of Malekith is nowhere close to Simonson's--and Simonson's was far better. He was subtle and had a point (other than "I'm evil so I kill things"). So, yes, I'll join you in being...
Gillen would be fantastic to have back! Someone who can actually write a good Thor and Odin and not spend 6+ years dragging them through the mud. Make it happen!
Happy to hear that Aaron will be...
Gads, that preview is ridiculously bad. If Marvel ever gives someone other than Aaron the book, will they repair Odin's character? One can only hope.
That was a great run, illustrated by the best: John Buscema and Tom Palmer!
That first story with Mangog (Thor #154) was fantastic! Top-notch Thor writing, great battles; Thor being Thor throughout. One of my favorites, no doubt!
I don't dislike Mangog as a character; I...
Well, Cul physically broke it into many pieces so, together with Thor denting and then repairing it when he had the Odin Force, they've shown there's more powerful forces at work that can destroy it....
Simonson's run was fantastic--one of the best, if not THE best, in Thor's history. Lots of respect for the character and mythos. Enjoy!
With JA writing the book, this will be more of a "Thor gets stomped by the Juggernaut" story.
It was a rare run where the story and art all worked together flawlessly--and it was all great. Even though Big John only did layouts for it, Mr. Palmer was more than capable of finishing them...
