What EVS said on the JS thread was very misleading to the fans. Venditti was one of the very few writers, who treated the human Green Lanterns as equals. I respect him for it.

That could be one of the reasons why DC editorial requested for those characters to be included in the book.

Yea, I don't think DC gave up on Hal Jordan entirely even after the failure of the WB film. You still had the TPTB that were still behind the character around those times.
