Default Why Didn't Rachel Grey just beat Magneto in Fatal Attraction?

In Fatal Attraction when Magneto and the Acolytes are in Avalon and instead of going through the affair of beaming them all up to face Magnus and his followers, would Rachael Grey/the Phoenix force have been sufficient enough to finish off Mags? Instead of manipulating Kitty to betray Peter, causing Wolverine to get shish kebabed by his own adamantium, and nearly killing his team on re-entry/losing Wolverine due to his injury- why didnt Charles just beg Excalibur to send their big gun in and forcibly take Magneto instead of minraping him?

For much the same reason Batmanor Green Arrow don't give Superman a call when their arch villains are on the loose.

It says "X-Men" on the cover, not "Excalibur".

Since Mutant Massacre, the beginning of the planning of X-Events involved figuring out how to take Rachel out of the event so she wouldn't be a factor.

Had Rachel attended Illyana's funeral, the entire event would have not happened. Rachel avoiding Jean and Scott was added as a way to keep her out of events like that and not resolved until Rachel was being written out.

Not sure if that's comparable. Rachel is still an X Men character while Superman belongs to neither the Batman nor Green Arrow franchises

They're all on the same superhero team.

I suspect because then Marvel wouldn't have had the big crossover event they wanted!

But really, much as it pains me to say it since she's probably my favourite character, Rachel just isn't that popular, certainly not at Magneto's level. She's not going to be the one to win a big crossover for the good guys, regardless of how powerful she is.

If we leave Marvel wanting to make money from Fatal Attractions aside, then in universe I don't see Magneto vs Phoenix going Magneto's way.

Don't think either of these instances were influenced by wanting to make money. And when printed both these instances were Magneto.

Checking the official Fatal Attractions list at the time of who was/would do what.

Could Rachel have been there and fought Magneto, yes, but they would have had her lose as they had their end state in mind.

They could have always gone down the the route with Rachel they did with Lorna at the funeral. Notice Lorna is at the funeral and yet she says nothing and does nothing and basically decides to pass on this fight.

She is even supposed to be the government's secret weapon against Magneto in Fatal Attractions as if says above, though we find out its a secret to Lorna at the end as the government just planned on capturing her to brainwash her to fight him and wipe out Avalon.

Not always at the same time and like I said, Superman is not a Batman or Green Arrow character while Rachel has stronger ties to the X-Men

Because it wasn't her story. That being said, didn't Rachel Summers lose much of the power of the Phoenix Force at this point? I remember a whole bunch of convoluted events that predated it including her in a healing cocoon while the Phoenix Force fought Galactus and then something involving a bratty Irish monk, but, even though I read all of this within the last year, I honestly can't keep it all straight.

You can't blame them for not remembering about her: Rachel's main power is to be forgettable. And she is awfully good at it.

Anyway, she wasn't even on the same world: She was with the Brits.

I'm glad she didn't. Magneto is a Phoenix killer.

    Because she wasn't strong enough.

Why didn't Magneto simply step forward, destroy the shield, and claim Earth for Mutantdom?

Because, for him, being the would be saviour of the mutant race is more important than saving the mutant race. If he managed to be in charge, he would be out of job.
