Default Pitch a new Solo Series

Any X-Men character, new or old. I’d like to see what some of you would like to see. Specify if it’d going to be an ongoing or mini-series. Doesn’t have to be super detailed, but that’s up to you. Try to aim to for characters whom haven’t gotten a solo yet, but if you go with one who has, give an outline of your story arc idea that’ll make it different front what we’ve seen so far!

went overboard and came up with some arcs lol

    DARKCHYLDE (ongoing)

    Overview:
Illyana “Magik” Rasputin doesn’t need the X-Men. She doesn’t need their fancy house, creature comforts, baseball games or their ambiguously funded jets of various names. She also doesn’t need the patronizing protection of her armor-clad brother. Not since she was ripped from this world as young girl and raised herself within the hell dimension, Limbo. Populated by the most fearsome nightmare fueling beings in the cosmos, she didn’t just survive, she flourished and became the Darkchylde. Illyana is a queen in her own right- nay, a conqueror and is quite capable of taking whatever she wants. Now, if only she could master the art of “hello” while treading the line between kinda-good and total darkness.

    Story Arc Synopsis’:
    The Next Sorcerer Supreme
With the absence of its ruler, Darkchylde, an army of demons has been amassed within Limbo. Using the abandoned equipment left by the X-Men during their stay someone has discovered the means of constructing a permanent bridge out of the hell dimension. With the intention of first invading Earth, they also threaten to destroy the thin fabric that separates the various worlds, and set all existence ablaze. Dr. Strange, observing as much sets out to put a stop to the threat and seeks to enlist the help of Magik, the realms ruler. But she has a request of her own... To become the next Sorcerer Supreme.

A Walk in the Pale Moonlight
The actions of her and Dr. Strange has sent seismic ripples across many planes of existence and drawn some unneeded attention to Earth and mortal realm itself. In other words, Magik has an interdimensional, intergalactic, target on her back. Ebony Maw, member of Thanos’ Black Order, has set into motion machinations to increase his own power and rip away from the ‘Mad Titan’ service forever but ne needs the Darkchylde to do so. Can the mutant shaman, Forge, lend a hand?

    A Brother’s Love
Mikhail Rasputin is one of the strongest mutants that has ever existed with reality warping abilities that even rival the great Franklin Richards. He’s also been a crap older brother to both Colossus and Magik. So when he returns to this world seeking the help of his siblings, will they choose to lift a finger? What can be so dire that Mikhail would need assistance? What could they possibly do, that he cannot?

    The Demon and the Witch
The Darkchylde Vs. The Scarlet Witch. Following events of AvX, The X-Men and the Avengers at best have tenuous relationship. The last thing they need are two of their most powerful members duking it out over an unresolved grudge. Will either of them make it out alive?

    War of the Wizards
Mystics, wizards, witches and mages have been gathered from across the cosmos to forcibly compete in a battle to the death. But who is powerful enough to make the likes of Darkchylde, Shumo Gorath, Doom and Dr. Strange bend to his will (Loki and Mojo that’s who)? Brother Voodoo, Wiccan, Scarlet Witch, Ebony Maw, Forge and many others take part in a tournament of power and desperation in a fight to free themselves from their captives and try not to be killed by the other contestants.

    The Apprentice Trials
So you want to be Sorcerer Supreme? Dr. Strange puts his new student through the ringer to see what she’s really made of. Magik’s endurance is tested as she’s rocketed from one end of reality, to realms only a handful of mortals have ever even fathomed. Will she stay the course or throw in the towel? Iceman: Sorcerer Supreme

Bobby Drake, Ice Wizard, from the Battle of the Atom future is exactly the Sorcerer Supreme in that timeline. Hijinks ensue.

Handle bar-mustached Colossus wields the soul sword and is Bobby's best and oldest friend.

Sorry I'm not super creative or detailed lol.

    Moonstar

The Past: When Dani Moonstar helped the Norns, they gave her a vision of the future that started out happy & ended in horror. (Think New Mutants #48.) A nightmare future triggered when a very public battle between Reignfire & Henry Gyrich ended the lives of thousands of innocents. Determined to prevent the catastrophe, Dani abandoned her plans to join the X-men & infiltrated the MLF.

The Present: Dani thought the threat was over. Now, however, there are rumours that a new MLF is being formed & the man behind it all looks a lot like Reignfire. Dani's going to find out the truth & save the future, no matter what it costs her.

Limited series leading to a relaunch of X-Force with a team made up of New Mutants and Generation X.

I don't think Solo was that interesting a character and I don't think he really needs a new series.

Some pretty neat ideas, actually. Still think Magik is a better name than Darkchylde (and there was already a series with that name a while ago, completely unrelated).

    Psylocke (5 issue limited series)

    1 of 5 solicitation

Elizabeth Braddock, otherwise known as the British X-Man Psylocke, has spent most of her life fighting. Fighting enemies, friends, family, heroes and her survival and now, Betsy has decided to return to her home for a hiatus from heroics. However, after Psylocke is caught up in a series of seemingly unconnected murders, and a bomber, she discovers she can't hide from being a X-Man and goes to investigate the truth

    2 of 5

Psylocke's investigation leads to an underground network, covered up by murder and corruption. She soon discovered it is fuelled by MGH which is giving people uncontrollable powers and decides to uproot the cause. Her antics attract the attention of her twin brother CAPTAIN BRITAIN who joins her in the investigation. However, will they be able to uncover the mystery before number of casualties continue to rise?

    3 of 5

Psylocke and Captain Britain have fought their way through thieves, murderers and power-hungry people all to uncover a new threat to the people of London. JOCK BARDDE is the leader of underground crime in London, but with nothing to his identity, Psylocke knows he has something to hide, but will she be prepared for it?

    4 of 5

Jock Bardde's true nature is revealed and the Braddock twins were not prepared for it. Now, they are trapped within their own tortured pasts, from Slaymaster to Sabertooth to Archangel to Mojo, Psylocke must fight her darkest moments in order to escape. But can anyone truly escape their past?

    5 of 5

The final confrontation! Psylocke and Captain Britain are pushed to breaking point as millions of lives are on the line. Any false move and all that they know will end. Will Psylocke be a hero once more or will she forever be burdened by guilt for her hand in this tragedy?

I've been thinking of this for a while so I'm glad someone created this thread.

I'm not the greatest at solicitations so it might seem a little poor.

Some of you have probably figured out the secret Jock Bardde is hiding but for those that don't, here's a hint:

    I AM JOCK BARDDE
I’ve just published my very first work on ‘Archive of Our Own’, under the same name as here. It is the first chapter of ‘I Am My Own Best Friend ~ An Emma Frost Road Trip’, which focuses on Emma between the events of IvX and Secret Empire, including the White Queen going on a road trip, to try and have fun!

You can read the story here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/15795663

I hope you enjoy it as much I did writing it!

I've been meaning to make this post for a while. Since I already know Marvel will never actually make a Polaris solo, I have no worries about whether or not this post would somehow prevent them from making one.

I'm going to kick it off with a nice picture commissioned by an online pal for me, as a semi mock up of what a cover for a Polaris solo (mainly the font here) could look like.

    Art by IDarkShadowI

Overview: Polaris has an extensive character history, with many lost opportunities caused by Marvel absolutely refusing to acknowledge and use her. Other times, key things she's done have been treated like they never happened. The primary emphasis of the book would be bringing back storylines that were abandoned and exploiting story-telling gaps during events.

Potential arcs, in no particular order.

    Anti-Apocalypse cult

Prior to being sent into space, Polaris was being hunted down by an anti-Apocalypse cult. They're back. Whereas before they were used as an excuse to make her leave Earth, in this case, we get to see her return to the country where they were attacking her. To add to the stakes, the anti-Apocalypse cult is hunting down any mutants with the idea that Apocalypse can't use them. Potentially add them holding an emphasis on targeting female mutants, excusing that emphasis with Polaris having been Pestilence. Throughout the arc, we would see flashbacks to what Polaris was doing to deal with the anti-Apocalypse cult before going into space.

    Echoes of Genosha

Polaris visits Genosha's ruins to pay her respects. Her memories of the event and the trauma flooding back cause her to recreate the event with her powers. Basically, she loses control over her electromagnetism powers as their expression becomes guided by her emotions instead of conscious thought. Magnetic manipulation can bring back memories. We've seen her broadcast the deaths of millions in Genosha's rubble. Who's to say she can't make her brain and the brains of those around her see those events and experience them as if they're happening right then? Maybe bring Briar Raleigh along given her obsession with Magneto.

Flashback: Polaris vs Scarlet Witch, Avengers vs X-Men

Scarlet Witch stripped powers from almost all mutants on M-Day. Polaris suffered immensely, and she was specifically targeted by Wanda simply for being Wanda's sister and Magneto's daughter. Polaris had an identity crisis to the point where she nearly killed herself letting a Sentinel attack her in hopes it'd awake her powers. She got abducted by Apocalypse, tortured, and turned into Pestilence. She got hunted by an anti-Apocalypse cult, which forced her into space. While in space, not only was she at risk of death at any moment, she was tortured again by Vulcan. With her suffering, Lorna vs Wanda is a prime idea. In my envisioning, Lorna would be fairly aggressive, Wanda would be fairly defensive and apologetic, and it would end in a cathartic stalemate. But there would be a lot of clearing of the air.

    Flashback: teenage Lorna

What happened in Lorna's life before Mesmero got to her? In my imagining, Lorna occasionally expressed her powers as a teen during high stress situations but Mastermind's work ensured she wouldn't remember any of it afterward. At some point, someone goes after Lorna knowing she's Magneto's daughter, she manages to fend the attacker off entirely by without conscious thought, and the attacker is ultimately "dealt with" by Magneto in secret - establishing that he's been keeping an eye on her as she grew up. We'd also see more of her adoptive parents, what they know or don't know, what they did to protect her (they had to know something given Lorna was dyeing her hair brown to hide the green before Mesmero).

    Malice returns

Malice returns, trying to take control of Lorna once more. Only this time, Lorna's fighting it tooth and nail. Outwardly, she keeps shifting between Malice controlling her actions and controlling her own actions. Malice keeps coming close to killing innocent people and heroes/allies that come to stop Lorna, while Lorna always manages to stop Malice from doing it. At the same time, Lorna's mentally fighting Malice - and using her powers to do it in the same manner as a psychic. Things Malice/Lorna does in the physical world are matched with what's going on in her mind. There's also some revisiting of old terrible depictions from the Claremont era, Malice's intent being to use those memories to weaken Lorna, but she keeps overcoming the attempts.

    Zaladane returns

Zaladane returns, intent on taking Lorna down in the same manner as what Claremont was trying to do. Zaladane basically attacks people Lorna cares about (Magneto, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Gambit, young O5, etc), insists she's Lorna's sister, tries to make a mess of Lorna's life, relations and any reputation she might have. As part of it, Zaladane tries to steal Lorna's powers again - and appears to succeed at first, but Lorna's power and the emotional links in it (e.g. the Genoshan genocide) are too much for Zaladane to handle, causing her to break down. This has the effect of showing the sort of burden Lorna bears all the time and why it drove her "crazy" during the Austen era. This arc would also establish that the "secondary mutation" for Lorna in the 80s was a foreign power set inflicted on her by Zaladane to add humiliation, especially the stupid "cause hatred and make people hate her" power.

    Cassandra Nova

I haven't put much thought into this, but I have general impressions thanks to Cassandra being suggested by jmc247. Some of this idea may be too scandalous of an idea for some people.

Cassandra Nova is responsible from the Genoshan genocide that brought so much trauma to Lorna. Lorna already has high stakes dealing with Cassandra as a result. What I'm thinking is that in a storyline involving Charles Xavier or his memory, Cassandra looks upon Polaris as "Xavier's masterpiece." Implication being that ever since Lorna was found by Mesmero, and Lorna joined the X-Men and stuck with them, Professor X has used his powers to alter Lorna's mind to make her think and behave in ways he wanted - typically in ways that make her "nicer," subordinate to others around her, and suddenly eager to follow his ideals. This becomes why she left the X-Men with Havok, why she went into space with Havok, etc.

But, in lead-up to that end point, Cassandra Nova acts like a Kingpin sort of figure. She's secretly trying to hurt mutants, manipulating groups to attack each other, etc, and Lorna is caught in the middle of it - at which point Cassandra takes notice of what's been done to her mind and tries to unsuccessfully turn Lorna into the lynchpin of her plan. Everything in the previous paragraph would come out toward the end and lead into the final event.

Final event: Lorna goes the way of Jean as Phoenix, Wanda on M-Day

Idea here would be to end the solo with Polaris as the key figure of a major X-Men or Marvel event, where she's going the same route as Jean and Wanda before her in losing complete control of her powers that go beyond known limits. But, here's the twist: we see how all these men in her life, trying to "fix" her (Magneto using Mastermind, Mesmero "unlocking" her power, Xavier manipulating her to be what he wanted, all the times she's been mind-controlled or possessed, etc) were simultaneously holding back her true power and disrupting her ability to access them in a safe and stable way. We also see that virtually everyone contributed to this happening by ignoring her value, disregarding her issues or that they deserved any attention, etc. She proves to be far more dangerous at full power than anyone expected.

Twist #2: unlike Jean or Wanda, we get a happy ending. Nobody dies. Nobody loses their powers. Lorna gets the catharsis and support she so desperately needs. Following this whole event, Marvel books as a whole would address mental and emotional health issues in the superhero community. Mainly, they'd deal with how very often they've failed to address such issues in the right way, how often they've gone for lazy quick fixes for convenience instead of actually helping each other, or worse: vilified people for going through such issues. There'd likely be a callback to Wanda and M-Day in here.

Powers: Along the way, we'd see a fuller exploration of what her powers can do and how she uses them. We'd see her use them creatively for things like making art or maybe playing pranks (if tone made sense). We'd also see her use them for typical psychic abilities (restore, erase or make fake memories; telepathy; make people see illusions; maybe control bodies). She'd make her costume with her powers at least once. She'd sense people she's after or fighting/protecting by their electromagnetic aura. She'd tap into communication lines to get intel, possibly see TV broadcasts or websites in her mind. She'd make herself invisible at least once, and probably do something like a Rube Goldberg style contraption once to beat an enemy.

That's all I can think of right now. There's so much else that could be done, though. Don't take this as set in stone "If I wrote it I'd definitely do it exactly this way" though. Deeper thought and actual story planning could require major changes or leaving things out entirely.
