X-Men were being pulled from games and erased from classic Marvel covers being used on t-shirts to avoid Disney putting Fox characters on their marketing.
Inhumans are a substitute for mutants in Agents of SHIELD. But they were criticized in season one for Scorch because the audience didn't want random made up characters who got powers through freak accidents. So the Inhumans fill that role. But they can't use X-characters there so I don't know what's expected. However, the Inhumans show is not using the Inhumans as substitutes for X-Men at all. In fact, the best way to ensure they're not a substitute is to hope things like Inhumans on TV, Royals in the comics, etc. are successful.

While Fox and Disney worked out a deal for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to appear in the MCU, they were retconned from being mutants because Disney doesn't want to even reference a term that isn't their Intellectual Property.
However, it's noteworthy that they were not retconned into being Inhumans at all, despite what some people thought would happen.

Wow, I really misunderstood that, since I could've sworn that that that was part of the retcon. So, are they still mutants (just not related to Magneto), or something else?

They're children who were experimented on by the High Evolutionary.

Inhumans was less than stellar for sure. However, with everyone making it sound like it was going to bring about the apocalypse. I enjoyed it slightly more than The Gifted and WAAAAY more than Legion. So if I see people condemning Inhumans while praising the cringe porn that was Legion, I know that we have entirely different requirements.
Some bands I love: Katatonia, Tool, Flaw, Within Temptation, Breaking Benjamin, Evergrey, The Panic Division, Bush, The Birthday Massacre, Silverchair ('94-'01), Poets Of The Fall, Lacuna Coil, Autumn, Klone, A Perfect Circle, Starset, This Misery Garden, Evanescence, Dead Letter Circus, Pallbearer, The Foreshadowing & tons more!

I've always considered the Celestials as bigger than any alien species. This always made me wonder if there can be Inhuman Mutants in the future, or if the Kree experimentation "stumped" their growth beyond of what they're already capable of. In other words, they can't evolve any further as Mutants.

The hype for the Inhuman movies when they were part of Phase 3 was Disney having their own X-Men type characters and their own revival to Fox's X-Men universe.

While Fox and Disney worked out a deal for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to appear in the MCU, they were retconned from being mutants because Disney doesn't want to even reference a term that isn't their Intellectual Property.
I think that they made the Nuhumans to add the what the Inhumans already were. They basically made people Inhuman, and left. Now they can write "street level" Inhuman stories because the new ones aren't royalty. Just regular people. I highly doubt that the canceled Inhuman movie was going to be about the Nuhumans (street level superhumans), but we'll never know because it's never going to happen.

And them diminishing Mutants has more to do with them pushing their own MCU super heroes like Ant-Man, Black Panther, Iron Fist, GotG, etc. than putting Inferno and Raja on mugs and t-shirts. They don't need the Inhumans to sell merchandise. If they push Inhumans, it'll be the same reason that they've been pushing Captain America and Iron Man. Because they can.

The reports of the Inhumans movie from back in 2014 claimed it would be about a group of humans who had unknowingly been genetically engineered to be superhuman sleeper agents by the Kree, which has some similarities to the eventual Nuhumans retcon in Infinity.

Back in the day, this was the case. Generally you couldn't 'cross the streams' and be both a mutant and an Inhuman, or a Spider-Dude and a Hulk, or empowered by cosmic rays like the Fantastic Four and a mutant. In Days of Future Past, the Sentinels had divided humanity up into three categories, full mutants, 'latents' (who had an unexpressed X-gene potential, and if exposed to gamma rays, cosmic rays, radioactive spider blood, etc. could become superhumans) and some sort of 'pure' humans who, presumably, if exposed to most superhero origins would just get cancer and die.

Presumably Terrigenesis would tap into the latent potential that would allow someone to be a Spider-Man, Hulk or Human Torch, allowing the Kree to take advantage of the fact that humanity, unlike the Kree, had metahuman potential because of Celestial tampering, so it's all the same switch being flipped that would make someone a Hulk or a mutant or an inhuman.

So, in theory, if a person with Inhuman heritage had already become a mutant in their teens, exposing them to Terrigen (or cosmic rays, or gamma rays, or a radioactive hedgehog bite) shouldn't give them any new powers.

Still, that was back in the eighties, when Terrigen gas was fatal to humans and had zero effect on mutants, and Wanda and Pietro were Magneto's kids, and all sorts of other stuff that's no longer canon.

Just saw the comic sales for last month and Royals actually sold a lot better than I expected (might do with the Marvel Legacy business). However I was surprised to see that Ms Marvel and Secret Warriors have both dropped quite a bit in sales. Right now I think that Secret Warriors might be the lowest selling team book produced by Marvel.

Isn't she in boarding school? When did Uncle Karnak have time for cousin Luna when he doesn't have time for his own son?
