Maybe that was why the Giants started Geno Smith yesterday.

Once upon a time, McAdoo was on the Eagles list of candidates to replace Chip Kelly. Thank god he stayed in New York and we chose Doug Pederson.

Geno didn't do all that badly. I was hoping for a Major League moment there, where against all odds the Giants win.

Well, Smith's tenure as Giants starter was short lived. With McAdoo and Reese gone, Eli is back in the saddle:

Firing the coach and reinstating Manning could backfire in the long run. The team could be fired up enough to beat the Cowboys this weekend. That would rob the Giants their draft position.

Well, at present, there are only two teams with shitty records, the winless Browns and the two-win Niners, and Frisco already has their QB of the future in Jimmy Grabass. As for teams slightly better than New York, there's the three-win Colts, Bears and Broncos, Denver figures be in the market for a passer in the Draft while Indy will stick with Andrew Luck a while longer and da Bears have Mitch Trubisky, they're followed by the four-win Bucs and Texans, but they have Jameis Winston and Deshaun Watson respectively. That said, I can't see the Giants winning more than four games the rest of the way, if they want one of the top passers coming out in 2018, they shouldn't put all that much emphasis on winning their remaining games.

While the whole trying to lose idea has merit from a certain practical standpoint, it really is a sketchy thing to do. The Giants took a huge step toward getting better today, they should build on that.

It is kind of amazing that they were a playoff team last year, and all this goes down now. New York is a tough city on sports teams. Joe Girardi gone, now the entire Giants organization is being reshuffled. How do the Jets manage to scrape by on mediocrity year after year like they do, without those wholesale cleanouts?

From what I hear it's a pretty stout QB draft, maybe, maybe not. I feel this seasons bottom feeders largely have their QBs for the near future so it could be come a volatile off-season for down traded picks and/or players. Also why would Eli mentor his rookie successor, isn't that what he did to Kurt? I figure the parties get together and work out some exit, Giants need a lot of work and now need a whole new front office and coaching staff.

Also I prefer to call him Jimmy Grabsherhole.

Expectations. For the Giants it was playoff appearance at least and maybe a shot at a championship. The JEST were expected to win 3 games have Bowles released before Halloween, didn't work out like that. JETS are scrapping and have a better record than anyone thought and now Bowles has bought some much needed time for some stability which has been severely lacking on the JETS. The Browns have wholesale clean outs down to a science. The Cleveland offices must have big industrial Roombas that clean out for new staff.
Beefing up the old home security, huh?
    You bet yer ass.

Gronk does end up getting a suspension for the hit on Rookie Tre'Davious White.

Very happy to hear this. That was a vicious hit that could have been career ending in a worst case scenario.

Glad he got suspended. One of the dirtiest hits this year. Maybe the worst. Thing is, they should have suspended him for two games, because now he'll appeal it and they'll probably reduce it to just a fine. He could have seriously hurt White.

All the suspension did was prove Goodell does whatever he wants when he feels like it.

    It won't stop late hits.

Gronk is appealing on the grounds he wasn't ejected from the game.

Not even the most diehard Pats fan should express any bitching over the suspension. He deserved it. That was a bush league move.

His logic is flawed. In the NFL, it seems like you only get ejected for fights. See Crabtree and Talib.

The suspension seems to be recognizing the blatancy of the hit. Iirc, others who have made similar hits have all just been fined, not suspended.
