    Default Major Storyline Reading Order

    Howdy folks.

To stop myself going insane Ive decided i need to invest myself in reading more comics. As such I want to get balls deep in Marvel and the continuity storylines which have influenced the main narrative to where we are today. Question is, where do i start, what do i include, exclude & flat out ignore & avoid.

Im not a lazy sod & have done my own research already. Below is my game plan.

    Dark Phoenix Saga
    Mutant Massacre
    Fall of the Mutants
    Inferno
    Acts of Vengeance
    X-Tinction Agenda
    2. The Infinity Gauntlet
    3. The Infinity War
    X-Cutioner's Song
    The Infinity Crusade
    Maximum Carnage
    5. Fatal Attractions/Blood Ties
    X-Cutioner's Song
    Phalanx Covenant/Origin of Generation X
    7. Heroes Reborn
    Operation Zero Tolerance
    8. Heroes Return
    9. The Hunt for Xavier
    10. The Magneto War
    11. Eve of Destruction
    12. Infinity Abyss
    13. Marvel: The End
    14. Avengers Disassembled
    15. Secret War
    16.House of M / Decimination
    17. Civil War
    18. World War Hulk
    19. Messiah Complex
    20. Secret Invasion
    21. Messiah War
    22. Utopia
    23. Fall of the Hulks
    Dark Reign
    24. Siege
    25 Second Coming
    26. World War Hulks
    27. Age of X
    28. Schism
    29. Avengers vs X-Men
    30. Age of Ultron
    31. Infinity

From here i am not entirely sure where it should lead, so advice is very welcomed.

Anyone think the above looks right? Missing anything?

I would say that you need to add quite a few X-Titles at the beginning of that.

    Dark Phoenix Saga
    Mutant Massacre
    Fall of the Mutants
    Inferno
    X-Tinction Agenda
    X-Cutioner's Song
    Phalanx Covenant/Origin of Generation X
    Legion Quest/Age of Apocalypse

Those are the key X-events of the 80s and 90s, and (in my opinion) generally maintained a certain level of quality that started dropping out of X-crossovers with Onslaught.

The list RaoulJuke posted is good. Acts of Vengeance would be another that I'd put in.

Thanks I have added those in. Dark Phoenix i have read many times before & read Age of Apocalypse earlier in the year. In no hurry to read the latter again!

Starting just after Planet Hulk/World War Hulk the Cosmic Marvel Series begins running in Parallel to the list you have, which goes:

    1-Annihilation (During Civil War)
    2-Annihilation Conquest
3-War of Kings (Comes After Secret Invasion, during Dark Reign)
    4-Realm of Kings
    5-Thanos Imperative
    6-The Annihilators

Which gets you to about where Infinity takes place more or less. The Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy series that ran along with these events fill in a lot of the blanks. Here's a guide: http://i.imgur.com/FUM3v.jpg

During and After Infinity you'll want to read Hickman's run of Avengers and New Avengers, which leads to Time Runs Out and Secret Wars for the Finale.
