Happy The Orville day! Today is supposed to be a bigger episode.
Happy The Orville day! Today is supposed to be a bigger episode.
Holy H E Double Hockey Sticks what a great episode can't wait till next week.
I can see now why they needed all that time off to get the effects done for this episode (and the next).
Those are some nice stakes they raised! The reveal in this episode was genuinely chilling, especially how Isaac's grown on me over these two seasons.
Current Pull: Amazing Spider-Man and Domino
Bunn for Deadpool's Main Book!
Same here that was FREAKIN' AMAZING!!! There are so many possible directions they can take this moving forward. I can hardly wait for next week to see what happens.
PS Greetings fellow Orville fans. I'm a huge fan of the series myself. It is one of the best if not the best sci-fi show on TV or streaming today IMO.
"So you've come to the end now alive but dead inside."
Are they gonna have to team up with the krill maybe?
Stick "we work together and we get out of here alive"
Matt "peace out suckas"
Very exciting, can't wait for the next ep. Also loved the cake and drink jokes.
The Orville got in some deep poo this time. As they say no good dead goes unpunished. Try to help a friend and look what it gets you.
spoilers:end of spoilers
This is sort of the idea behind Battle Star Galactica, the Borg or Terminator, isn't it? The machines rise up and overthrow their organic overlords?
Were the massive structures built by the former organic inhabitants of the planet? Not sure why the Kaylon would need such buildings.
What kind of society is the Kaylons? A democracy? A Borg collective? They seem to sort of have free will and individual personalities and an appointed leader.
But I did notice a bit of a continuity error. Issac said that his blue eyes were merely cosmetic and he made them to make the rest of the crew feel more comfortable (it humanized him).
But all the Kaylons had eyes. Why would they now need eyes? Why would they now care about making organics comfortable? Interesting that Issac was the only Kaylon with blue eyes.
I guess that was for our benefit so we could tell him from the rest of the Kaylon.
Yeah, the red glowing eyes were clearly there so the audience could code them evil. They don't make sense in-universe. For that matter, the kaylon's having humanoid bodies doesn't make sense either. Isaace being humanoid makes sense because he was designed for humanoid comfort. But the world in general should be full of robots designed for specific functions. Sapient transport vehicles with arms so they can load and unload themselves. Sapient storage buildings. Almost like a cross between the Transformers and the Zerg. There is no logical need for a race of humanoid robots.
I could see Isaac ultimately saving the day, but I don't think that redeems him. He had to know the history of Kaylon and that they wiped out billions of people and he probably always knew the objectives of the Kaylon--unless they interfered with his programming. Even if he makes good, how can the crew ever trust him again? And how can Clare's family welcome him back?
I suppose it could be that he is playing chess at such a high level that every action he took was calculated and he understood that this was the only way it could all work out, even if he had to sacrifice his queen.
I think it's likely more that Isaac is basically a child. He was created purely for the purpose of gathering information. He may literally only be days older than the show. I think that will be a factor: his homeworld, isn't really his homeworld. It's what constructed him, and he followed his orders because that's just the nature of a baby robot who has had no emotional development whatsoever. I think he will ultimately side with the Orville as much because he has literally spent 99% of his life on the Orville as because of ethical reasons.
Well, the episode is titled, "Identity (Part 1)". I imagine that gives some clue as to where this whole thing is possibly going.
Excellent episode! Very nice VFX and score. Didn't see that coming, but I'm sure Isaac will turn around and help Team Ed. He can't stay evil! I felt so bad for Claire and her kids. They thought they had found a new dad.
Maybe. The other races will have to join Ed and company in order to survive this invasion. Join or die.
Loved the joke. I mean, I strongly identify with Bortus about choosing my fave part of the cake haha.
maybe they somehow wanted to resemble their 'builders'? And also because budget reasons. Maybe they can transform into other things when absolutely necessary. Even a chair?
Great theory
Oh good clue! hmm yeah, I can't see Isaac staying 'evil'. I'm sure they did something to his programming to make him forget some stuff.
Mark Jackson aka Isaac just posted this pic... lol all the different colored eyes.
