As someone that is not a big fan of events...
Metal so far has been very enjoyable. I really like the Dark Knights as well. Love the Hellraiser Elseworlds vibe.
Ha ha ha ha... I love this crazy story!
It's like a conspiracy theory yelled out by some nutter on late night radio, but because this is the DC universe where everything is made up and anything is possible it's all true. Of course Barbados has his own Justice League of Batmen. The Owl tribe goes back to the dawn of man. Of course. The metal connects everything.
Loving it all. Rock on!
I would call it Runnium... if ingested as fine powder it gets an additional meaning.
I liked this issue a lot better because there was a more cohesive structure and an adventure being had that wasn't simply a series of mysterious questions. I always liked the nods to DC lore and previous continuity but it wasn't explaining anything and the references after 2 issues of setup and 1 issue of story were becoming overwhelming. The "Red Death" issue helped in explaining wtf was going on well.
My only gripe is that you have to have a lot of plot points fresh in your mind. I don't remember Final Crisis that well, or the Return of Bruce Wayne. Thankfully I have both and can just look them up. But I stopped reading Batman at Morrison's run and always planned to (but never got around to) read Snyder's celebrated run. Same with Forever Evil and Darkseid War. I suppose it's something I can't complain about too much since those were the mainstays of New 52 continuity which we're technically still in, but altogether they're pulling strands together that I either don't remember or aren't familiar with. Same with the Endgame references and a few others I'm sure I didn't pick up on.
I've always preferred pulling on history to being totally accessible to new readers as a hardcore fan, but this is exceptionally dependent on your knowledge. Which makes me love it a lot more in some ways but frustrates me in others.
