Now we know what the child of a Minbari & Narn would look like.

It just looks like a watered down version of Saru's makeup to me, and while I love Saru's makeup, this guy's look is boring and bland. I'm instantly seeing Sphere Builder or ancient humanoid DNA seeder, too. I hope all the money saved on this guy's prosthetics goes into the ship CGI.


They're Space Bonnie & Clyde, so she's his gun moll... and her name is Moll? *sigh*
Please let the rest of yet another 'race across the galaxy to stop Armageddon' season be more inspired than the makeup and names, 'cause right now it L'aks a lot.

Viewers have noted that there seem to be Constitution-class sets and displays in the trailer, as well as the Terran Empire symbol.

Probably means there is a Mirror Universe episode as some speculated due to the titles, and the ship is the Defiant. A good excuse to reuse SNW sets too! This time they can explain the tech looking different than Tholian and the Enterprise two parter as changes made in the Mirror Universe. The brief glimpse we got in the MU episodes showed it with changes to it's nacelle struts and saucer for example.

Maybe because time works differently with the whole Interphase stuff/Mirror universe that's how the Discovery winds up having to wait for a thousand years in the Short Trek?

This show has felt the most like an Anthology of any Trek show I've watched.
I have a range of thoughts about it but am curious to get one more ride out of this crew.
Whatever flaws it has, and it has some, it is responsible for proving to the suits that Trek fans are out here, hungry. Discovery allowed for that so I'm grateful for it.

^That was pretty much the original pitch for the show I think, that it would be akin to TRUE DETECTIVE, AMERICAN HORROR STORY in that it would have a different crew every season. Even showed up in some early advertisements.

I think the original intent is still there to a degree, with the Captains switching-and indeed, the main character not being a Captain for once (Although neither technically was Sisko when he started).

Since they look a bit like Vulcans with even worse haircuts, think there's a bit of a theory that the Vulcans are not native to Vulcan-Spock, for example, says that Vulcan might have been colonized by the Arettans in "Return to Tomorrow" and there's the Mintakans from Who Watches the Watchers who are described as Proto-Vulcan. So maybe these other people were from the same colonists.

Of course that also raises the possibility that the idea that Romolus is a Vulcan colony is wrong.....

The Romulans know they came to Romulus on ships after the last great war on Vulcan. There's no questioning that.

Besides, Kelleruns look far more like the Ocampa or Halarans than like Vulcans.

Watched the first episode. Largely has a big somewhat Star Wars-esque planet and bike chase. The new Captain is fun, a bit like Shaw in that he clashes with the characters but more likeable than Shaw was out of the gate (Eventually Shaw became a more likeable character as Picard season 3 went on).

Kind of wondering if they actually got the actor who played the Romulan officer in TNG to play the older version but not sure.

We also see a Soong-type android, not Spiner but obviously kind of meant to resemble Soong/Data.

The episode, and the season itself, of course is meant to be a sequel to a dangling plot thread from THE CHASE.

I watched the first 2 episodes and I definitely get the "You've got Star Wars in my Star Trek" vibes. Which is ok for me since I understand this isn't typical Trek. That being said, I really enjoyed both episodes. Book being back is the best thing, of course lol but I would like more focus on the other characters. That's always been a flaw for me, so no change there.

Saru: Captain Wars you alright?

Burnham: Yeah I'm just really psyched that this is the final season!

((FOUR HOURS EARLIER AT A PARTY))

Adira:... So then I came back when I heard the season had started. Seriously, I forgot the season had begun!

Burnham: Haha So did our fans!

Adira: I can't believe we are getting so amped over these lame drinks.

Burnham: It's good to see the federation back.... Right?

Stamets: Yeah, whatever. There isn't enough alcohol in the world to make this party tolerable. Peace out

Culber: Your just made because the Spore Drive as discontinued.

Burnham: You'll find a new porpoise.

Stamets: Did you just say porpoise?

Burnham: We are almost five minutes in and the A-plot hasn't shown up yet. Cut me some slack.

Following up on the Chase is definitely a good story idea, though I still kind of wish we had a more episodic feel like SNW does. Still, a solid start and both episodes were fun.

That ship set sail long ago, so no point in even mentioning it at this point. I do think they should have started off in the future to begin with but that's hindsight.
