I'm pretty sure they'll still be using the themes he created for the characters though.

Oh yeah I'm sure WW theme will appear and Superman's motif will appear when he comes on screen. But Batmans theme was pretty forgettable, so he could get a new theme and you also have Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman who do not have themes yet. I am curious if Elfman is going to give each character a theme or will just write a theme for the team.

The Batman themes from THE DARK KNIGHT and BVS don't stand out for me, but Elfman's BATMAN (1989) theme is pretty iconic. Would it undermine the integrity of the DCEU if Elfman returned to that for the JUSTICE LEAGUE?

Mood-wise, that would work better with the DCEU, IMO.

I don't think the John Williams SUPERMAN theme is passe at all; it's timeless. That said, it's fine to have new composers adding to the associated body of music.

This was discussed in the DCEU thread , or whatever we are calling it now. Danny Elfman, The composer for Justice League has confirmed that the John Williams Superman theme will be making an appearance in the movie. Now whether it’s just a nod and is sneakily placed or whether it will be played out in full is unknown.

From Elfman's words, it doesn't sound like the latter to me.

The Trek TOS theme and the James Bond theme both have their riffs that often mark an important moment in later movies and TV series. Superman and Williams theme could be the same way. The entire score isn't needed, but a few seconds of recognizable and iconic music certainly seems appropriate and fitting.

Fanfare for the common Superman fan.
