I'm walking into semantics territory, but I'm not sure having feelings or caring too much are really flaws. It makes his job harder, but that's not a flaw. It's not like alcoholism, or being attracted to underage kids.
Depends of how is use, sometimes being too invested on something or somebody, make you forget to attend other necesary aspects of your life and doing some rash decision thwt might not be good for your long term interest. Maybe is a flaw and a virtue

As for Superman's flaws, i always thought that it was the fact that is very difficult for him to swicht off his hero mode, tragedy is always happening or about to happen and he can't be around all the time, but he tries and left other aspects of his life unattended, mainly his relationship with people that don't know his secret identity.

Because, same as every Hero (in the literary meaning) we see a reflection of ourselves in him.

So maybe being alone isn't a flaw, more like an integral part of what makes Superman, well, Superman.

    I certainly don't consider it a flaw.

    More like a personality trait.

    This thread should be renamed:

"Why Superman is actually far more interesting than you may think"

and pinned as a sticky to the top of the board.

    It's that good!

Or, does it make him greater?

    I don't think so.

Morally inferior? No. He's got a couple blind-spots most people don't have but overall he's still a paragon of moral superiority.

Violent? Yes, he's a very violent person. He solves most problems by punching things, and quite often doesn't even bother trying diplomacy or intimidation first.

Is he a hypocrite or self-righteous jerk? Sometimes, yes. Not all the time, but you can't claim to champion "Truth" and then lie to everyone you know about some major things and not be a hypocrite, even if you have good intentions behind the lies.

Does it make him greater? Hell yeah. He's not perfect, he has flaws he struggles to overcome, flaws he doesn't even realize he has that causes complications in his life he has to deal with.....those rough edges and inconsistencies make him more interesting, they add spice to the recipe. If he were perfect he'd never struggle with anything past lifting heavy objects. His flaws make him greater because they give him challenges to surpass.

Why and How is he a paragon of moral superiority despite he is often violent and even a hypocrite or self-righteous jerk sometimes?
It is what I want to understand. And It makes Superman interesting person, I think.

Because he doesn't give in to his flaws and his worst traits, he tries to rise above them and do the right thing....especially when its hard and he'd rather take the easy way out.

You don't have to be perfect to be a paragon of moral superiority. You just have to fight against your worst traits and not let them define you. And it probably helps if you lead others to do the same through example.

No one is perfect. You think Ghandi didn't have a few chinks in his armor? I'm sure he did. Doesn't mean he didn't set an example or wasn't a paragon of moral superiority.
