Default Is the Phoenix Force entity female, male or neither ?

Just wondering how everybody views the Phoenix Force, as we have seen Jean Grey is the most popular host of the Phoenix Force and there have been both female and male hosts of the Phoenix Force but if somebody asked me what sex the actual Phoenix Force was I would have to say female.
So I am just wondering what everybody elses interpretation of the Phoenix Force was ?.
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.

It shouldn't be either unless we are talking about Jean, but I think it's canonically a chick now.

God, Marvel needs a good cleanup on a couple of concepts.

Its a mass of cosmic fire, i don't think high level cosmic beings like the Phoenix have a or stick to one specfic gender. It just pefers a female form.

As posted above, she sometimes appear on a humanoid female form, and most of her hosts are female, plus the eggs. And maybe it's just an impression, but I think characters usually/sometimes call her a she/her? At least people do.

Being a cosmic force/entity/consciousness, it may not have a sex, but I think it definitely has a preferred gender identity as female. It prefers to take a golden fiery form of Jean Grey. Plus the First Foursaken was suppose to have been a male counterpart to the Phoenix, so in some sense it is viewed as female. Odin had a romantic relationship with it as well. As a force of creation it makes sense that it is connected with the Divine Feminine.

While there have been male hosts, the preferred avatars are women with red hair and green eyes: Jean Grey, Rachel Summers-Grey, Hope-Summers, Pre-historic cavewoman, Fonji.

The Phoenix Force identifies as a female. Not a male, not an hermaphrodite. A female.

Agreed. Sad that Old Man Odin seems to forget that he has a wife. I bet his relationship with the PF was all in his head.

A cosmic force does not have a gender.

I don't think it has a sex at all. But its gender identity being female makes a lot of sense. Its a cosmic force based on rebirth and renewal which have always been feminine traits for obvious reasons.
