Now, we all know Storm fans get a bad rep for our unparalleled devotion to the All-Goddess. Can you really fault us, though? The man that was responsible for her creation, her costume, her physical attributes, her power set, and her over all character make-up was essentially an uber fan that drank his own kool-aid. As per the link provided, he is quoted as saying “What I had in mind was to make her the most powerful woman in comics, and the most beautiful woman in comics, and I think I’ve succeeded,” Dave Cockrum told the audience at RiverCon ‘75. “If I can find someone who looks like her, the two tickets to Tierra del Fuego are right here in my pocket.”
Some questions I have for you guys is: Do you think Dave Cockrum truly believed he was creating the most powerful AND beautiful woman in comics? Do you think his purpose for creating her matters at all in the grand scheme? Do you consider his expressed intent for creating Storm specifically impacts her character model? Or do you dismiss Cockrum claims of creating the "most powerful woman in comics and the most beautiful woman in comics" as mere lip service to what he considers to be one of his greatest creations?
