so what's going on with the strips now? I see Curt Conners and Bruce Banner mentioned.

Last time on Dragonball Z...

Taking a few days off from the mammoth publicity tour for Marvella II, Peter and MJ decided to go check in on Curt, who's wife had recently died. They arrived at Curt's run down home where Connors persuaded Peter to come to his lab out in the Everglades. MJ tagged along as she was tiring of autograph hounds interested in her celebrity status. MJ wound up wandering into the swamps to do some sight seeing and was attacked by a python, but was rescued by Bruce. Bruce and MJ come under attack from an alligator and in the ensuing mayhem, Curt is injured.

Bruce turns into the Hulk and deals with the creature, and reverts back after a brief skirmish with Peter. Bruce had come to see if Curt could help him control his transformations, but now Curt's in bad shape so they return him to the city where Bruce volunteers to transfer some of his blood into Curt. The process drains Bruce and he collapses, so Peter decides to put some of his own blood into Bruce so he can recover. Curt transforms into the Lizard and attacks his doctors, and that's the story thus far.

So we now have a half-naked Lizard, not wearing his trademark lab coat for once, but still wearing half-torn trousers. Peter's down for the count, so Bruce tells MJ and the nurse that he must willingly become the Hulk to save everyone

Whoops, spoke too soon...something is blocking Bruce's ability to turn into the Hulk. MJ wonders if Bruce needs to be angry in order to change, but Bruce assures her that the trauma of Lizard's rampage should have triggered his aggression, is this all Peter's fault?

Today's strip had time for comedy. The Nurse overheard MJ call Spidey "Peter", MJ explains she said "Spider", and that the name has "many of the same letters as Peter", Peter whispers to MJ that he hopes the nurse doesn't google MJ otherwise she'll learn the name of who she's married to.

The ending to today's strip was comedic gold. Peter's hanging by his fingertips on a pole attached to a building, the pole snaps off and he begins to fall. The final panel is Bruce asking MJ if Spidey's ok, MJ says he can handle the Lizard, and Peter's dropping like a stone right behind her

Bruce and MJ have decided to go topside to help Peter against The Lizard (Peter spring-boarded himself back up the roof)

Oh, turns out Curt wasn't interested in MJ (that's new), and instead went back to the Everglades to kick off the reptile revolution, leaving MJ to explain everything to Peter and Bruce once they made it back onto the roof.

This is something I did'nt know...the newspaper strip universe was actually given an animated outing in the 80s in an episode of Muppet Babies

MJ is asking the right questions...how can blood from Peter diminish Bruce's powers as the Hulk when Bruce's gamma blood can strengthen The Lizard? Peter's answer is a little simple, there's a difference between the kind of radioactivity they were both exposed to...did we ever find out what kind of radiation Peter was exposed to in his origin?

Looks like MJ is being written out of the strip for the remainder of this arc. She wants to go with Peter and Bruce to the Everglades but it's much too dangerous, and Peter wants her to honor her contractual obligations to the movie studio for personal appearances or else the pair of them will get sued!

Spoke too soon. Peter and Bruce return to the harbor and find MJ waiting for them on a motorboat.

Peter wishes his wife had stayed in the city, MJ tells Peter he needs her and that she's very skilled at motorboating, having learned in her modelling days. Meanwhile, ol' Jolly Jonah is on another motorboat being pestered by flies.
