    Default Marvel maths - Spider-Man 234

How did Marvel come up with #234 for the Spider-Man book?

    Spider-Man Vol 2 (2016 - 2017): 21 issues
    Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man (2014 - 2015): 12 issues
    Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol 2 (2011 - 2013): 28 issues
    Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol 1 (2009 - 2010): 15 issues
    Ultimate Spider-Man (2000 - 2009): 160 issues

    My calculator says 236!

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the Legacy renumbering where Marvel took count of a number of books and used them for a titles renumbering. I'm presuming in this case it's for Ultimate Spider-man and if something is slightly off like this it might be because of Annuals, crossover character focused books, or whoever was in-charge missed a couple books, and we know that happened to a few titles considering how many comics are out and about.

Ok so Ultimate Spider-Man went from Issue 1 to 133. It then turned into Ultimate Comics Spider-Man for 15 issues, and then they reverted it back to Ultimate Spider-Man's original numbering.
    So it's actually 160+28+12+21=221.

I actually would have thought they would have used the original Spider-man run, started by Todd McFarlane in that total. Which I don't know what the issue numbers are there.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

They’re only using the issues that Bendis has written

    Yeah, Miles's count is based on Ultimate Spider-Man, not the 90s adjectiveless Spider-Man. Ultimate Comics Spider-Man vol 2 ended on issue 200. So it's 200 + 12 + 21 = 233.

It turns out they are counting all Miles Morales and Ultimate Spider-Man titles, including one special and two miniseries, but not the Three annuals.

    Spider-Man Vol 2 #1-21 (2016 - 2017) 21 issues
    Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #1-12 (2014 - 2015) 12 issues
    Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 1 #200 (2014) 1 issue
    Cataclysm: Ultimate Spider-Man #1-3 (2014) 3 issues
    Spider-Men #1-5 (2012) 5 issues
    Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol 2 #1-29 (2011 - 2013) 29 issues
    Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 1 #150-160 (2011) 11 issues
    Ultimatum: Spider-Man Requiem #1-2 (2009) 2 issues
    Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1-15 (2009 - 2010) 15 issues
    Ultimate Spider-Man Super Special #1 (2002) 1 issue
    Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 1 #1-133 (2000 - 2009) 133 issues

    = 233

Thanks for putting me on the right track

No, that's still not quite right. They counted Ultimate Six.

Hm, why didn't Marvel release all those lists right away?
    Thanks!
