How some older characters have been handled for some years now has been a big deal for me

The art on a lot of books has imo been very poor for such a bug publisher (I appreciate that's a taste thing)

Mid run price shifts for a few "bonus" pages

A lack of editorial direction on the entire mythos imo - that's not an attack on the editors more the systems they need to work in

So many re branding and cancelled titles only to be relaunched

    The entire renumbering for legacy

But in fairness I do still love some books and characters

Secret warriors is my fave version of kamala
Ultimates was great with spectrum, adam and america - big loss imo
Weapon x for warpath and death cry
    J jones and defenders
Avengers coz of jane and Hercules

The rest I flick in and out of

Have dropped black panther and gotg, lost doom iron man and ultimates

    Will give 2 in 1 a go

Nothing else in legacy attracts me

Will be very sad if jane is lost after her death story in Mighty Thor

Picked decompression coz events seem to go on for ever, secret empire seemed sooooo long

Rising prices - Prevents me from trying more or new titles

Crossovers - Plays a part in the expense

Bad stories - Too much stuff has become more plot driven and less character driven. Character driven is my preference.

Movie rights stuff - limits the character pull in stories, even further is trying to force the MCUverse into the comics verse. They should stay separate.

Decompression - Stretches out stories sometimes to the point where there is no conclusion before another writer takes over.

    Relaunches - Enough already!

Other - No real continuity. Leads to a lot of stuff just not making sense.

Actually, with the Secret Empire issues themselves, I thought Marvel seemed to do a better job of wrapping things up closer to when they said as opposed to a bunch of events that added an issue or two and wound up finishing at least 2-to-3 months after they were originally solicited to.

    So Many Reasons:
Crossovers -- It had become to much like work following all the titles and issues. Having to buy books I don't want to. Which lead to...
Rising Prices -- In turn leads to cutting back on the issues I did buy.
Decompression -- Made for boring issues.
Replacing popular characters -- The books became about characters I didn't care for.
Treatment of characters due to movie rights -- When replacing didn't become the reason this did become the reason for dropping books.
    Diversity Push -- It's everywhere.
New reader friendly -- Doesn't bother me.
    Premature cancellations -- Along with...
Relaunches -- Also became to much like work.
Changing/Confusing continuity -- Nothing wrong with it as long as it doesn't lead to...
Just bad stories -- Which is the main reason I no longer buy new books from Marvel

I don’t think pushing diversity is a bad thing. Mostly because I’ve never had too many options to look up to growing up reading comics. Having more diversity to me just means representation for all kids out there, not just a majority.

This pretty much explains how I feel about the whole argument:

Because I don't care at all about the characters and stories they are pushing right now. They have space to publish lazy crap like Wolverine/Hulk and Spider-Gwen/Deadpool mashups but can't give chances for estabilished characters that aren't in the movies or aren't legacies of other A and B-Listers.

Now that is a solid reason

    Other.

The company and the products it produces are no different to what they were 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago.

Apart from obvious exceptions, I pick up a Marvel (or even DC) book and I feel like I've read it a dozen times already.

Crossovers don't make me feel forced to buy books; rising prices are inevitable; decompression is just a literary tool; replacing characters is no big deal; have no idea what 'treatment of characters due to movie rights' is supposed to mean; diversity is a positive thing and certainly isn't new to Marvel; being new reader friendly is a positive thing; premature cancellations are inevitable; continuity is fluid (and fictional!); relaunches are inevitable; stories aren't 'bad' - which is really the crux of it.

It's just the same old s**t for decades.

Too much. Prices, crossovers, treatment of characters of movie rights, bad stories, decompression, replacement of characters, relaunches and changing continuity.

Along with treatment of characters that aren't getting movies or just because there head writers dislike them.

To me it dragged and dragged

That's also in part due to the start in the cap books and the promotion

But that's my point, it seemed to be around forever in one form or another, CW2 seemed to be in every book

I mean secret wars was literally everywhere and when it looked like a universe shakeup I could at least run with it, I just stopped buying anything marvel except for the main book, all the minis were a non event from my perspective

Imo marvel events have been too expensive, expansive, overlong and underwelmed me over the last half decade (secret wars was okay but it failed to live up to its potential consequences for me)

Now that's just my perspective but of course that's all I'm expressing

Cost, I still buy Marvel and there are still books I want to read but can't justify with my budget right now.

    1. Replacing beloved existing characters for inorganic diversity push
    2. Radically changing existing characters for inorganic diversity push
    3. Crapping on the fans unrepentantly
    4. Rising prices
    5. Movie synergy
    6. Flanderization everywhere
    7. Sidelining of diverse characters that already exist (Rhodey etc.) in favor of crappy replacements
    8. Rampant terrible writing
    9. Not as rampant, but still prevalent, terrible art
Good Marvel characters- Bring Them Back!!!
