Visceral was screwed from the get-go. Sounds like EA is a hellhole for creative types.

Why is a game set between Episode IV and V an 'unexplored period' as they said a while back? It's one of the most utilized periods of EU stuff out there.

Man this news sucks. Was it ever explained why visceral was shut down?

Yeah, especially with the new Disney canon-Marvel's got a number of comic series set during that era (The regular ongoing, Darth Vader vol.1, Dr. Aphra and many of the minis) for one. Plus I'm sure quite a few of the novels such as Heir to the Jedi etc.....

If anything, with "Shadows of the Empire" gone the the ESB/ROTJ era is a bit of a blank slate now...

The Star Wars game that EA was developing to replaced this one got quietly cancelled
    https://gematsu.com/2019/01/ea-vanco...game-cancelled

    Visceral died for nothing.

Well...whatever EA was trying to frankenstein together out of the original game probably wasn't going to be any good anyway.

Seeing a company with pockets as deep as EA's squander a license with as much potential as Star Wars is almost impressive in a way.

Yeah it's a shame. Although Lucasarts did have a lot of misfires with their Star Wars brand here and there (Their RTS games, Teri-Kasi, arguably the Force Unleashed) they also had plenty of great Star Wars games that are among the best movie-based games ever released (X-wing, TIE fighter, the early Battlefronts, Dark Forces/Jedi Knight, the LEGO series etc).

EA screws up good franchises all the time. Why are you all surprised?

At least we can still expect Fallen Order and whatever they’re now planning instead for Fall 2020, now with 50% more micro-transactions!

Rogue One writer Gary Whitta gave his two cents about Visceral cancelled game.
    https://comicbook.com/gaming/2019/01...tar-wars-game/

“It has been catastrophically mismanaged. If I were Disney, I’d be fucking furious. I saw a bunch of that game, and it looked terrific. It would have been Star Wars Uncharted.”

From what I understand, the deal expires sometime in 2023 meaning that if anything Fallen Order is the last game on EA's schedule assuming nothing starts development right this minute and has a small shelf-life as it pertains to DLC.

Reportly, EA has refused to let Bioware develop a new KOTOR game

Of course they would. A KOTOR game wouldn't have bullshit like microtransactions to leech more money off people who just want to play a game they've already purchased.

2 games in six years is a good job, apparently.
