    Default NBA 2017-2018 Season thread

    BASKETBALL IS BACK!

The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Boston Celtics with Kyrie Irving in the Season Opener! LeBron James is a game-time decision (ankle).

Then the Golden State Warriors get their rings tonight to face the Houston Rockets with Chris Paul!

Predictions? Both for tonight's games and the rest of the 2017-2018 regular season?

    It's a Ball night!

That’s something no one wants to see and it happening in the season opener is just awful

I'm not a doctor, I don't even play one on TV, but I'd be shocked if that injury didn't end Hayward's season. Most unfortunate.

That sucks so bad. Initial reports are fractured ankle. I was hoping for maybe just a bad dislocation.

bad dislocation of a joint like an ankle is usually part of a fracture as it was in this case, one thing to be scared of is the possibility that it ruptured his Achilles tendon, as a dislocated ankle can take it with it sometimes, hopefully the X Rays won't reveal anything additional to the already more than likely season ending injury

Parenting stuff actually held me out of watching the games, but my Facebook feed blew up with reactions and screenshots.

    Holy. ****.

The human foot is not meant to bend that far at all. Poor Gordon Hayward.

Last I heard, they were saying this kind of surgery will take till March 2018 to heal up properly. And that's a best - case scenario for Hayward.

Did not expect the new season to start off like this.

Gordon Hayward injury update: Celtics forward to have surgery after gruesome leg injury

Most unfortunate indeed. I really felt for Hayward as that was a horrible injury. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving wanted so badly to be "The Man" (his rationale for wanting out of Cleveland and away from King James), well, he's going to get his chance as it sounds likely that Hayward's season is effectively over. Even though the new season isn't even 24 hours old, Boston's chances of being a legitimate contender to overthrow the Cavs and become new Eastern Conference champs took a brutal, perhaps, irreparable hit last night. Still, who knows what might happen in the weeks and months to come.

Awful injury, he should take as much time he needs & not rush back.. Hopefully he won't try to come back till next season..

The surgery parts a given, the ankle isn't like the shoulder and requires surgery to even properly reset

Nikola Mirotić will be out 4-6 weeks for a broken jaw

Bobby Portis Jr has been suspended 8 games for punching him
