Default Would you watch this if it happened? (animated Nick Cage movie)

saw this article today. Kevin Smith is interested in an animated adaptation of the Burtan/Cage movie that never happened.

Would you be interested in this if it happened? I sure freaking would! I mean, yeah Nick Cage as Kal-El is such a god awful idea on paper, but at the same time I can't help but feel really really curious. And who knows? it could actually be really fun.

I would watch the world burn down so long as this sprang from the ashes.

We have a hard enough time getting from the comic book to the screen with Superman. The last thing needed is yet another variant to divide the audience on just what Superman is supposed to be like,

The audience is already divided, this isn't going to hurt it.

Let me put it this way- as long as all the crazy spacey designs Tim Burton had commissioned for the movie, I am definitely on-board.

My only concern is that since they're already going ahead with a "Death and Return of Superman" movie, a Superman Lives adaptation would be the third Death of Superman animated film and the fourth overall counting Dawn of Justice!

That is too many. Ultimately though, I'd rather have the animated Superman Lives than a more comic-faithful adaptation. I'm just not a huge fan of the story, Superman dies entirely too often either way, and the things I really like about Burton's concepts have little to do with the "Death of Superman" idea.

Still! I'd be way on board with this.

I think the movie would have been better then Superman Returns. There were so many ideas. Lexiac, mech-spider, polar bear fights, etc. Whatever it might have been excellent or a train crash it would have been interesting. I just looked up at google and found some crazy ideas associated in some form or the other.

The craziest was indeed Nicholas Cage as Superman. You try to shield your eyes and fear this would be the worst thing ever, yet can't stop peeking through the fingers. How would he be? So, i say yes. It won't be as bad as Superman Returns which is frankly a low bar to cross. And these ideas would really suit an animated feature. Not that it can't work in live action. Superman is a character who would be at home with such ideas. At least it won't be boring. I would definitely watch it!

Before I die, this must happen and I must see it.
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?

I'd love to see it as an animated!!

Though i do agree that it could be too many "death" adaptations since they're (FINALLY) going to try to do "Death and Return Of Superman" properly.

I'd rather see DaRoS than SL, but I'd still very much like to see it!

Are there rights nightmares that stop all unproduced DC treatments from being given this attention?

Kinda indifferent. If he was actually drawn to look like Cage, that would take me out of it a bit, really. He never had even close to the right look. But I think that would rather miss the point of even doing it. The story ideas I wouldn't mind seeing though if it were presented.
