    Default ASM 790 preview

That's a switch. Usually, Peter finds being Spidey to be a burden, not the other way around. How long do you think it will be before we get back to Spidey being hated and Peter being ignored again so he can have some kind of normal life when he is not Spidey?

Oh, man. This preview looks great. I'm really happy with where the book seems to be headed, and I haven't been reading ASM for quite some time.

It has that classic feel but with a new twist.

It is actually better than the PI storyline.

    Clash's plan feels a lot like the Vulture's m.o. in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

I haven't read the PI storyline, so I can't comment beyond my personal preference for Peter Parker as an everyman.

789 was really well-written and 790 looks to be great as well. This is the most I've personally enjoyed the book since the "Big Time" era which ended with ASM 698-700.

There's nothing wrong with synergy, but I suspect Slott had developed long-term plans for Clash before he ever saw Homecoming.

So maybe the writers on Homecoming actually got a hold of one of Slott's notebooks full of ideas and ran with it.

All we need is to have a Ned like best friend, Tony Stark as Peter's reluctant mentor, and a snarky Michelle Jones type who is always where Peter is. Plus Flash as a rich guy from India.

I presume Gage is helping ease Slott's schedule so he can write the Venom Inc instalments.

Explains why the preview looks so good.

Gage is his go-to stand-in isn't he? Though it's usually things like annuals and event tie-ins.

From a Preview only I was really surprised how much I enjoyed those pages. ASM # 789 was the most refreshing issue in ages and this looks set to continue! And I don't honestly think it's because Parker Industries is over; the writing really feels as if we're big in the Big Time era again. Since Superior Spider-Man ended I've grown a bit tried of Slott's run but it honestly seems as if Slott is writing at his best again.
