Default Invincible iron-man 593 (Spider-man related with spoilers)

Did anyone read Invincible Iron-man 593?

Basically, in a technology related event from Stark industries there is a gigantography with Tony Stark and Peter Parker, dressed as an unmasked Spider-Man, in a section dedicated to Marvel superheroes. Brian Michael Bendis swiftly explained that away by saying the image was “from a kick-ass costume party for rich people.”

Did you thought Bendis explanation is valid or not? Or they simply made a coordination mistake?

I can see MJ making the excuse it was from a period where Peter was wealthy when selecting to run that footage, but If the footage is from the press release, it would still cause a bit of dating controversy, as some may recall Parker Industries wasn't formed for another year...of course historians may point to the fact top Horizon guy Peter used to work for Tony back then and had a close relationship with him, thus could be granted access to those sort of parties.

It's a serviceable excuse, but the use of the footage still comes off as trolling, reminding us of the whole mess Peter put himself in, and still makes MJ's decision to use that footage weird given how much it cost her.

I doubt we will get in-universe context on why nobody assumes that Peter couldn't just put on the costume and be Spider-man. Peter "posed" as him before, and its established that technology replicating Spider-man's powers exist even coming from Stark and its known Peter used to work for him. Stark still has Iron Spiders and supplied equipment to a team of them. A team that also tried to say that Peter worked for them and was a Scarlet Spider so it's not like the MU doesn't have anything on Peter to be suspicious over, especially given that he has stated he builds Spider-man's technology.

So even as a "kick-ass costume party" it's still problematic but thank god everyone in the MU is a complete moron.

Remember in the Spider-Island epilogue how Peter was freaking out that Carly found out he's Spider-Man and wasn't forgetting, then Doctor Strange told him the spell he did for him would stop working when he starts doing blatant Spider-Man things as Peter Parker, then people can figure out who he is? I remember that. Sure feels disappointing nobody who works at Marvel checks this stuff or remembers things that happened only a few years ago. If it was meant as just a fun thing that's fine intentions but the editor probably should cross-check with the Spider-editors to make sure something like that is ok to do. And if the Spider-editors saw and said it was ok, why? It's a little thing, but little things are important in fiction.
