Winter Soldier is one of the best superhero movies ever made and easily takes the top spot in the MCU.

I'm going to say Captain America: Winter Soldier, the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and the first Avengers movie are the best of the best so far. Not to say that there aren't a lot of other good ones (they're are), but those stand out the most, IMHO.

When it comes to the MCU movies, I rate them on my own scale between a 0-5, relative to each other and not comparing them to other movies. For me, the ones that are in the 4.5 & 5 score are the cream of the crop.

5-Outstanding: The Avengers, Cap: Winter Soldier, Cap: Civil War
4.5-Fantastic: Iron Man 1, Cap: The First Avenger, Guardians Vol 2, Homecoming
4-Great: Guardians Vol 1, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man
3.5-Good: Doctor Strange
3-Above Average: Thor 1
2.5-Average: Iron Man 2, Thor: The Dark World
2-Below Average: The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 3

When I say that they are average I don't mean that in a bad way. Average in this case means it's a typical quality, what to expect, perfectly fine by MCU standards.

Winter Soldier, Civil War and Avengers are the top 3 for me, with the other ones from those franchises coming after(First Avenger and Age of Ultron). I don't quite like the more funny ones like GOTG and Ant-Man, and... I actually haven't watched Spider-Man and Doctor Strange yet lol.

While I appreciate the optimistic Panther/Thor picks ... I think Winter Soldier will hold it for awhile. While GOTG was great, it kind of kcik started an overly slap-stick phase of marvel. The resulting movies are fun, worth watching, but ultimately forgettable. Winter Soldier got the balance right and is the pinnacle IMO.

I have enjoyed every film that i have watched. But i have not watched Thor 2, Doctor Strange, GoTG 2 and Homecoming yet. But they are on my list.


So taking away the ones i have not seen yet: Captain America's three movies are great. With Winter Soldier the best of the bunch. Avengers, GoTG, Iron Man would round up the top six.

Marvel is yet to make a bad movie. My top three favorites in no particular order:
Avengers
Winter Soldier
Civil War

The next bunch:
GotG
Age of Ultron
Iron Man 3

The least favorites which are still great(and i have enjoyed a lot even these):
Thor
Iron Man 2
Incredible Hulk


How does Marvel do this? They either make the most brilliant movies like Winter Soldier or really enjoyable films like Iron Man 2. For comic book fans they are a godsend.

Guardians isn't solely to blame. It was a snow ball effect imo, starting all the way back with Iron Man 1, which infused Downey's sense of humor into every scene, and was arguably more funny than any superhero movie to come before it. Fast forward a few years and Avengers 1, like everything else Whedon does, was like 50% comedy, with witty one-liners in almost every scene. Then only one year later, Iron Man 3 became the highest grossing non-Avengers movie while having somehow even more jokes and one-liners than Avengers. And finally, Guardians came out in 2014, which cemented Marvel's comedic legacy.
