Anyone else think JLaw is going to be Captain Marvel?

It just seems odd to me that she announces she's no longer going to play Mystique one day, and the NEXT day there are all these rumors Marvel has cast Carol Danvers.

Or do you think that was just a coincidence?

Not that I have anything against Jennifer Lawrence, it would just seem pretty unoriginal casting.

I think that's pretty much the whole story here. Jennifer Lawrence has had a long run on series that forced her to have long commitments, and she'd like to move away from them so she can do more films she wants to make. Plus, she badly wants a break. She didn't film anything in 2014 (her parts in Days of Future Past were filmed in 2013, same with Mockingjay Part 2) in order to take some time off from Hollywood.

Yeah. Captain Marvel is likely going to be a very time consuming commitment and I'm not sure someone with as many acting opportunities open to her is going to tie herself down like that.
