For those readers who have been using Hoopla to read or sample comics and trades from DC, Image, Dark Horse, Dynamite, Archie and others... some great news!
Marvel is now on Hoopla, as well!
64 trades were added this week for Marvel's launch on Hoopla.
You'll want to check with your local library to see if they use the service, and you'll need your library card to get set up.
Check outs vary depending on the library. My library is 8 check outs a month, and also includes novels, audiobooks, music albums, movies and tv shows (although I really don't recommend using the service for tv shows as each episode is a check out).
Each type of media has its own duration of check out time, with comics being three weeks.
Today would be a prime day to check out something to read, as anything borrowed today returns on the 31st and your check out limits refresh on the 1st.
Another trick is if you get to the last day of the month and still have available check-outs, use them all up. You'll get a full slate of check-outs on the 1st and still have the books from the 31st (or 30th) for another three weeks.
Remember, check-outs do not 'rollover'. If you don't use them, they're wasted and you're reset to your max limit on the 1st.
And one more tip: to find recent releases each week on Hoopla, go to the comics section, browse by genre, select "Just added to Hoopla" and then the "New Arrivals" tab.
