Big Finish has released details of a new Third Doctor adventure The Annihilators. This is a 7 part adventure that fits in with series 7. Been since they attempted a story of this length in the 25-30 minute format The Game and Cold Fusion were both 6 episodes in length but this eclipses both.

Out of the 7 episode format only Inferno pulled it off well for me.

Anyway, it is available for pre-order and this little chappy has just ordered his.

It would've been better if she destroyed it.

That was never going to happen. Chibnall chickened out on going there (and I suspect we're all OK with that honestly) , at least so far. But there's no reason to take it so completely off the field in case a later writer might want to do something with it.

Lots of ways you could play with a virtual eternity of Doctor memories without even getting into the Timeless child nonsense or having to go near any of Chibbers retcons. It'll probably never get mentioned again, it very much had the air of putting your toys back in the box, but you never know.

Kind of funny that this season checked off all the things from the Sixth Doctor's famous Trial speech:

    -Power mad conspirators
    -Daleks
    -Sontarans
    -Cybermen

War Doctor: Warbringers came out last night.

I wish they gave it more fanfare.

Target artist Chris Achilleos has died. He was also involved with Heavy Metal magazine, the movie Willow, and many album covers.

Didn't know he's also the guy who made arguably the most famous HM cover of them all, Taarna.

I remember his work from HM. Beautiful women.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Big Finish has had its Doctor Who licensed renewed until 2030. No details on if this extension covers the new series up to the start of Jodie's era or not though. Either way we have further releases to look forward to. This includes some surprises as well.

I think once Jodie's Era ends, it'll be a few years before they start using elements. But they probably will have impressionists for Whitaker rather than the real deal.

I think they might be able to use all of Capaldi's era now. But Jodie's won't be touched until 3 or 4 years after its concluded (at the earliest). Just my prediction though. Still, being given the license for another 9 years shows confidence in them and the content they produce. Also, as was stated in the official release, it gives them the opportunity to plot some long term story and character arcs.

Apparently Moffat has heard about RTD's plans for the show and he's enthusiastic about them, but that's all he can really say.

I wouldn't be surprised if RTD hasn't tried to entice him to commit a script or two.

RTD and the Moff were the guys that kept Doctor Who alive during the dark age.

I wouldn't be surprised if they consider it their child even after they weren't involved.

I've heard rumors that RTD and Chibs hate each other mainly due to, well, the Timeless Children retcon. According to the rumors, RTD hates the direction and he and Chibs are barely on speaking terms. That said I think RTD is too much of a professional to outright retcon the retcon even if the rumors are true.
