The War and the Seventh (Well, not all the time, but on occasion, several times during season 26 for example) do have the same sort of world-weariness to them sometimes.

Just a thought-given that RTD and Tennant said that there are plenty of surprises ahead in the specials, could a Tom Baker cameo as the curator showing up again be likely? Now that the 14th Doctor is wearing an old face like the curator implied, maybe he could show up again?

Also would be a good (and maybe last given Tom's age) chance for the two actors who for many are the definitive Doctors to do a scene together and also bookend DAY OF THE DOCTOR.

Penguin Books has a new book announced for the Dooms Day event with the Second Doctor, the Ninth Doctor and the Slitheen. Weirdly though the blurb describes Doom as male even though she’s clearly female, unless there’s some gender aspects to Doom we’re not privy to, but Big Finish definitely describes her as female… weird.

Anyway the book is called Extraction Point and it’s out August 10th.

EDIT: Two more incoming materials are Four From Doom’s Day, a BBC Audiobook with Doom encountering Ian and Barbara, the Ice Warriors, Brian the Ood from Time Lord Victorious and the 12th Doctor. And then Titan is doing a comic mini series that’s got Doom with Missy. Only the book describes Doom as male so either it’s a typo or something specific to Extraction Point has Doom as male.

EDIT 2: Never mind, looks like it’s a typo on both Amazon and Penguin, the description for Extraction Point on the official Dooms Day page has her as female. Goes to show how little the BBC cares about this when they let something like that released on two big websites including the actual publisher! XD

Kind of wonder if this is kind of one of those "season 6b" things with the Second Doctor (an attempt to explain the weird things about the second Doctor remembering the War Games despite immediately regenerating afterwards AND working for the Time Lords when he was still running from them in The Five and Two Doctors).

The "Timeless Child" storyline actually lends some credence to that theory, since it's another time where the Doctor worked for them but then had his memory erased and regenerated. For all we know there's possibly Doctors between Troughton and Pertwee now too!

Of course there is the slight chance that the Five Doctors/Two Doctors Doctor is actually a *future* incarnation that got the same face like the fourteenth & the curator. Since we have the fourteenth meeting up with Donna, Wilf and Sylvia again despite not seeing them for centuries from his POV it's not all that farfetched that a reborn second doctor might want to check in on Jaime, Victoria and maybe Zoe.

Just holding out hope for a quick Matt Smith cameo.

Having a future version of Smith as the curator having a chat with Tennant or Gatwa could be a nice bookend for "Day" too. I'm guessing the Smith incarnation would count as an "old favorite" given that he'd said he would always "remember when the Doctor was me". The Capaldi incarnation approved of course when she thought Clara was dating a man similar to 11, and of course Jodie wore the Fez.

Mel is back after her cameo in POWER OF THE DOCTOR for a season 14 story.

    https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi...rn-newsupdate/

Wonder if her story will have a similar narrative role to School Reunion, although of course Mel is nowhere near as beloved as Sarah Jane was.

Also makes me wonder if the "Special guest star" from the "Tom Baker era" was an error, and the rumor actually meant "Colin Baker era" .

Seriously how is this more Doctor Whoish than anything he ever wore as the Doctor?

Another thought about the other Doctors cameoing, the ones in POWER OF THE DOCTOR were a pleasant surprise (Although they weren't "really" the former Doctors but holograms and mental images) and I don't think were too heavily leaked.

So I recently rewatched Terror of the Autons-In Episode 4, Delgado and Pertwee never appear together in a shot! In the scenes where the Master and Doctor appear together, one of them has their back to the camera (presumably a body double) or the Master's hands are visible but the rest of him is not, or you see one of them when the other one is talking (presumably using ADR) Guessing somehow Pertwee and Delgado's schedules kind of clashed? But it's kind of funny, their historic first meeting and neither were on set on the same time.

Nicholas Courtney also used a body double for part of the story but that's well documented. Don't think this has been noticed in the same way though.

One of my favourite Who pastimes was desperately following Missing Episode rumours (which in 2013 shockingly culminated in ME recoveries from Nigeria, a story first broke more or less by Bleeding Cool).

Since then, the rumours have been a lot of bollocks it seems, yet they stubbornly live on and I stubbornly look them up now and then:
    June

2 - According to Matthew Purchase on Twitter, at the Utopia Event [archive TV hunter] Philip Morris[, who recovered the 2013 MEs,] has said that the "missing episode number of 97 will go down very soon". This was apparently said in front of [ME hunter/expert, DW restorer] Paul Vanezis, who said nothing to contradict or debunk the statement.

Meanwhile, Morris also reportedly stated he knows of six episodes in private collections, with Paul Vanezis clarifying on Twitter that he knows of up to three.

6 - On PMF [Planet Mondas Forum], members Knux and Scot Ferre report that the GB [Gallifrey Base] ME thread has been locked, and posts made by [ME enthusiast/expert] Ian Levine angry at Philip Morris have been deleted.

It is the first time in some years that the GB thread has been locked and purged.

7 - On MEF [Missing Episodes Forum], member Ray Badrick clarifies that Morris did not say "very soon", but that the number of missing episodes "would come down".

9 - The Mirror weighs in on the comments made by Morris at Utopia. The six episodes with collectors comprise four in the UK and two overseas.

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

An entire Marco Polo would be nice.

Also would make way for a classic series season one release on Blu-ray. I think season two was the first B & W one chosen for Blu-ray because it's the most complete black and white season outside of two episodes of the Crusades. Season 6 is still missing most of Space Pirates and a chunk of The Invasion although the latter has animated episodes.

I must admit, Marco Polo being lost is the biggest DW tragedy to me (though its audio exists). I loved Aztecs (perhaps my favorite DW story, along with City of Death and some other Baker ones). It possibly may be that Marco Polo is most desired of all lost TV episodes of any studio (though I'm no expert on what all else is missing).

Yeah, it's kind of the Holy grail of missing stories, kind of what "Tomb of the Cybermen" used to be.

Think "Web of Fear" episode 3 is known to exist but was stolen/sold. It's the first appearance of Lethbridge-Stewart.

Celestial Toymaker would be a cool find if the speculation about Neil Patrick Harris's character is correct.
