Wonder if the preview going "I know that voice" is going to be some kind of big reveal although apart from a few references to past adventures (Unicorn and the Wasp for example) Chibnall has largely steered clear of the series mythology, although there was that bit about "The Timeless child" in episode 2 that people thought could've been some kind of hint/arc word.

He's steered away from familiar aspects of the mythology, but this series has added several new elements to it, particularly The Doctor's background (afore mentioned Timeless Child, the Seven Grandmothers, living as a Nun)

Some have said the show's too PC this series, but ironically I don't think it's been very born out by the actions of the females. Though the women here hold the highest standing positions; Yaz seems hardly credible as an effective police officer, and the Doctor herself is the most feeble, unsure un-demigod like Doctor since Peter Davidson's. The god like nature has been over used in the past, but I think it's interesting that they haven't been going full out, "Girls can do anything!" Perhaps they were worried about making the Doctor 'Mary Sue' but if that true it would be an invalid concern because the Doctor has every logical reason to be a powerful omi-capable creature. It's though having reached a goal they've slacked off so far, as to seem somewhat odd.

I'm seeing a bit of Davison in the new series as well with the choice of three companions (although this was also something we saw with Hartnell and very briefly with Troughton). Although the Doctor's "fam" is quite different from the dysfunctional initial Davison group.

So Macra terror has been announced as the next animated reconstruction story.

Regarding the last episode, the Zygons are sort of tied into time lords by Day of the Doctor, which established that their home world-mentioned as destroyed way back in the 70s I think-was a casualty of the Time War.

The Doctor's description of the Solitract kind of reminds me of seventh's description of Fenric, although of course Solitract was more benign.

Can't believe they're doing another fully missing story when they still haven't animated every partially missing story:

The Crusade, The Underwater Menace, The Web of Fear and The Wheel in Space... anything else I'm forgetting?

Web of Fear did get a partially-reconstructed (but not animated) release a few years ago along with Enemy of the World (I think in part because new episodes were found).

Well, that would be the most sensible option. I think they are likely still holding out for Web 3 to be recovered (if it ever is at all.) And Wheel would need 4 episodes animated (although episode 1 has, apparently, been animated.)

I would absolutely love some DVD copies of The Crusade and, yes, even The Underwater Menace on my shelf. But lets be honest, one is a historical (which never do well for some reason) and the other is a story only the most diehard of Whovians would show up for.

At least The Macra Terror has a creepy atmosphere working in its favour. The one story that would benefit from being given the animated treatment is The Celestial Toymaker. Heck, they wouldn't even need to worry about animating the Doctor for most of it lol

I could understand the periodic breaks when Grand Moff was at the wheel. I mean, he did have his hands in both the Doctor Who and Sherlock cookie jars. But Chibnall? What the heck is tying him up? The show needs to get back to having consecutive series to build a loyal audience again. Those who can be confident in knowing they don't have to wait years for new episodes.

Are you kidding me?!! This is ridiculous. Just get rid of Chibnall and Jodie. He didn't want to do the show anyway. I'm sick and tired of waiting years in between because he either has too much going on or just doesn't care.
