I am just curious if after years of letting the male Doctors be flirty with various female characters if we'll ever see a female Doctor and male character have a moment - the closest 13 ever seemed to get is that young doctor in The Tsuranga Conundrum before he died.

I'm more interested in getting a good actor and producer than if they're male/female/black/white/cyberman/etc.

The main casting has never really been the issue in the modern era. The companions and lead story has been. Give us better companions! Give me better plots!

So apparently details for the first boxset for the Ninth Doctor Adventures have been revealed and it looks like they are going to have a new companion pre Rose. Also Chris seems to be pretty adamant he isn't going to play Nine on television again.

This guy has done an incredible introduction for a BBC Eighth Doctor Time War series. I love the understated almost somber take on the theme tune here.

Look what I found in time for Christmas (not my work, not sure on origin):

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the town,
The quiet of that night was disturbed by a sound,
Called “The Song of the Universe,” many would say,
And it had filled the streets hours before Christmas day.

As the wind blew hard and the snow did fall,
Appeared in the distance a shape thin and tall.
Came as if from thin air, in that winter brand new:
A box very small of the night’s clearest blue.

With the turn of a knob, and the creak of a door,
A man had appeared that was not there before,
Whose presence caused within one such a fright,
Emerged as if from magic on that Christmas Eve night.

As he laid his first steps upon the snow-covered ground,
And he breathed in the air, he looked all around.
While the rest of the world remained fast asleep,
I awoke and I watched that strange man in the street.

He carried an air that was wise and astute,
Reflected by his clean, brown, pin-striped suit.
He wore playful sneakers of the brightest red,
And intelligent glasses that sat on his head.

His tie was offset, and casually loose,
And over all this, a trench coat, stretching down to his shoes.
He stood a minute more, and again scanned the scene
And in the night’s stillness, his eyes fixed upon me.

He walked with a large stride to the spot where I stood,
As only a person with great purpose would.
His face had suggested that evil was there,
A great presence of which he was only aware.

When but four feet away, he had stopped dead,
Then with a flash of his teeth and a twist of his head,
He leaned in closely, and whispered to me,
With excitement and haste, just one word—“Allons-y!”

With that, he ran into the shadow’s domain,
And thoughtless I followed the man so insane.
When, breathless, I asked why we needed to run,
He smiled and said simply, “That’s what makes it more fun!”

“Who are you? Where from? You never did say.”
“I’m the Doctor!” he proclaimed. “And I’m from…far away.”
We scaled stairs, ran through alleys, and made many a turn,
And towards what I knew not, though soon I would learn.

“It’s the snowmen,” he said. “They look shifty to me.
Those two moved over there, just now. Don’t you see?”
Many more came just then, and they all watched us two,
So the Doctor stood calm, and took out something blue.

The snowmen approached us, coming from every side,
With their two eyes of coal and their smiles so wide.
I looked at what he held. “What good can that do?”
He turned it in his hand. “If only you knew.”

He held it high and turned on its light,
It shined clear to the sky on that Christmas Eve night.
The snowmen stopped moving, and he smiled once more,
And in no time at all, they’d melt onto the floor.

“It’s my sonic screwdriver,” the Doctor told me.
“It’s great in a pinch, as tonight you have seen.”
“Who are you, really?” I asked. He looked down to the floor.
“A story,” he replied. “Just a dream, nothing more.”

We went back to his box, he leaned on its side,
Lost in thought for a moment, and smiling with pride.
“Will I meet you again?” Though I already knew.
“I think not,” he replied. “I’m a traveler. Passing through.”

He stepped into his box and he closed the door tight,
And the Sound of the Universe rang again through the night.
As he vanished, the town clock lit up far away.
The hands read twelve. So began Christmas Day.

Some of the pics from the special show Jack near the traditional gold Dalek, so I'm guessing the Defense drone-which looks like a fancier version of the scrap metal recon Dalek from last year-is just their 'public face' like the Ironsides.

There's another possibility I think. Although the casing of recon was mostly melted maybe somebody was able to salvage enough to reverse-engineer/create these drones and they actually are just drones. Maybe the Daleks just don't like the knockoff perhaps?

Either it's a scheme like Power or Victory, there's a civil war like Remembrance (Revolution does imply that) or someone on Earth has created their own Daleks and the real ones show up to deal with the 'impure' models (something like this happened in Big Finish's Blood of the Daleks).

Daleks pulling a con again. Which is a nice change from the screaming "exterminate first" crap we've been lumped with for years.

A bit OT but I've been watching Capaldi's 80's film LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM. Kind of feels like an extremely R-Rated version of the WHO stories (Mostly from the original series) where there's something weird going on in a small countryside village. His co-star, Hugh Grant, was sort of a Doctor himself, although as a joke.

So Revolution of the Daleks in a few hours so I'll bump this a bit.

Kind of interesting that Eccleston, Capaldi and Whitaker's first Dalek stories were largely just "solo" Dalek stories (Capaldi's "Into the Dalek" had a few extra, but the action was mostly focused on-and in-"Rusty".) before the more ambitious, "armies of Daleks" ones.
