I think perhaps the best comparison would be perhaps to Davison, who also had a lot of companions and often found himself in situations he couldn't easily control or have authority over.

Also a lot of the better episodes of the era were the ones taking place in a historical setting, kind of like a few of Davison's serials (and also to a degree Colin's first season).


Has it ever been established if Chibnall was a fan of the Davison era? I know he appeared on TV to give some thoughts on Trial of a Time Lord in the 80's but I haven't read much about his own classic WHO preferences.

While Jodie wasn't on my radar for the Doctor Tilda Swinton was my number 1 choice and Hayley Atwell was also in my top 5 so I was extremely open to a female Doctor. It worked brilliantly IMO with Missy.

Hayley would have killed it. Either save her for a future regeneration or, bring back Romana already and have her play her.

My 4 top choices are those 2 followed by Alexander Siddig and the actor who played Fitz on AoS who name I'm blanking on right now. He sold me when he played the evil Fitz in the Framework.

Also Broadchurch is fantastic and Chibnall wrote some good Who stories I went into his tenure with High Hope's. But god they were dashed.

I've read Rachel Weisz is a big fan of the show and could've made an interesting Doctor I think.

She also happens to be married to a man who also played an often recast British icon....

There are rumors that RTD is going to revamp the Dalek designs for season 14, something attempted during Moffat of course but didn't stick (Of course Jodie had the recon/drone Daleks but I don't think they were ever intended to replace the 2005 versions).

"The Knight, the fool and the Dead" by Stephen Cole is a great read and feels like a lost Doctor Who episode. I'm looking forward to it's sequel "All Flesh is Glass" by Una McCormick.
