Why is everyone ragging on Donny Cate for a weak Doc Strange? His whole Loki SS storyline will end with Doc taking his mantle back and proving that he is strongest magic user and the best candidate to protect the dimension.

    Smaller crossovers can be fun.

Obviously, it will have effects on Strange's title since Cates is on it, but if it doesn't cross over with Iron Fist, Moon Knight and Spirits of Vengeance, its importance will be questionable.
Is Spirits of Vengeance an ongoing? I was under the impression it was a mini-series.

I don't think anyone is ragging on Cates for a weak Dr. Strange, especially since that's a carryover from Aaron/Marvel, but just that Marvel only seems interested in Strange when he's de-powered or involved in storylines that de-power him.

Honestly, I'm not really sure which ones are ongoings, minis or one-shots.

The event was probably planned while Spirits of Vengeance was an on-going. Would have been much cooler if it was.

    It's not so much Cates.
It's just been happening ever since Marvel brought him back.

Yes, I have nothing negative about Cates, other than he was going on and on about Loki, and the fun of writing the character, that it worries me that he will forget the title of this book is Doctor Strange for a reason.

I would be happy for his run to be about Loki ultimately mucking things up and Strange saving the day, but the pattern of Marvel seems to be as soon as it looks like Strange is going to have at least a resemblance to historical Strange, the writer finishes their arc and moves on. Next writer comes in and starts at the same baseline, without Strange actually demonstrating SS powers, or seeing to the reblossoming of magic in Marvel. That is my worry, and after the past what? 9 years of him being suddenly arrogant and self-serving, then everything being about the Eye of Agamotto and the Cloak as if they were sheriff badges, instead of his years of knowledge. I know I am preaching to the choir.

If they go Midnight Sons, or Defenders routes, that would be welcome.

Blade should be able to take on Mephisto one on one. He should have some special anti-demon swords for just an occasion.

This event, with it being set in Las Vegas, and Mephisto being the driving force behind DAMNATION. I can't help but be reminded of the 1997 Marvel/Top Cow crossover event, THE DEVIL'S REIGN. Mephisto, looking for new worlds to conquer, learns about the Top Cow Universe ,and its residents. Journeying there, he starts spreading his influence among the residents. He gets his hooks into locals like Killrazor, and Heatwave(of Cyberforce), and goes after Witchblade wielder, Sara Pezzini. Trying to steal her soul. Also along for the ride is Weapon Zero, Danny Ketch/Ghost Rider, Cyblade, Elektra, Ballistic, Silver Surfer, Jennifer Kale, and Cyberforce. The story ends with Heatwave turning on Mephisto when the Demon Lord attempts to enslave the world in Las Vegas. I doubt DAMNATION is ripping off The Devil's Reign, but maybe just rhymes with it.

Add the fact that the devilish villain has already corrupted several Avengers, and Wong and his rag-tag group of mystical heroes look like they’re in serious trouble.

With Mephisto having corrupted Thor, how is she continuing to wield the hammer? She can't be worthy at the moment if she's serving Mephisto.

I wondered about that, too. I finally decided that the hammer was not really Mjolnir, but a Mephisto-powered lookalike. After all, Mephisto is known for his lies.

From what I saw on another site when I raised the question of Jane being worthy despite corruption, apparently Mephisto’s power is stronger than the enchantment (possibly in his own realm) allowing him to bypass it.
