For most potential love interests, it would take several years of comics to reach the point where an engagement is the expected outcome. An engagement can be a story engine for several years after that, especially since comics aren't meant to be real-time.

My guess is that editorial could be persuaded to go with an engagement after five+ years of comics with a popular love interest, so writers shouldn't worry about that too much.

Shouldn't Mockingbird count as a "true love interest" whatever that means?

No, because neither have made a serious leap with the relationship yet, and it does still come across as the two treating one another as "easy" rebounds.

Given the current mandate, no. Although I do list her as a possibility should the mandate be changed.

I'm not expecting Peter x MJ to be the wedding they mentioned in the promo, but it makes me wonder which couple could actually be the one they're talking about. Like you said, it takes years in real time to actually make a relationship in comics to be meaningful and I don't think Marvel has any now.

Peter & MJ would also be the only couple where a reconciliation could naturally lead to a wedding, but even that wouldn't be necessary. Marvel could reunite the couple for a few years, without a marriage or engagement and take a look at the series at that point to decide where to go next.

I am surprised that only 1 person voted for Gwen.
    I thought Gwen is popular.

There have been debates about whether Mary Jane or Gwen is Peter's One True Love.
I created a thread about Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Koriand'r/Starfire. It is to acknowledge and honor their iconic and popular relationship.

I created a fan page about Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson. This page is for all the Spider-Marriage fans.

    Two things going against her.

    1. Gwen is dead and cloned so many times now being revived holds no meaning to anyone

    2. She did the nasty with Norman Osborn.

Objectively speaking, that does seem like a good way to handle something like this.
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."
