HeHe. That article should have said 're-signed' meaning she is officially doing WW2. Another definition of resigned is to accept something unpleasant so it could be taken that way although I doubt it. Either way, she's still doing WW2

If you read it in the context of the entire sentence, you can see that she's still directing WW. It's basically saying, 'While this and this is good, this other thing is bad"

Unless she signed to do and withdrew from WW2 at some earlier point, the verb in the sentence in question ("Patty Jenkins resigned for Wonder Woman 2") should just be "signed". You can't re-sign for something until you have signed for it at least once before.
