The only element that would make me hesitate to call "I, tonya" as a vanity project is because Margot Robbie while a rising star, Margot does not greenlight movies just because it's her. The studio probably greenlight it cause they thought it had the chance to be an Oscar contender so it became a hot property. A vanity project is usually something even the studio doesn't want to make and they'll go alright we'll do this to satisfy that dude and cause they have a deal with him/her.

Not sure if it was a vanity project or not, but 'I, Tonya' was good with fantastic acting. Oscar winning acting to be honest. Not a blockbuster, but way, way better than the Justice League movie and thats sad.

I disagree with this it was ok but I wouldn't call it great or better than JL in my opinion well maybe in acting.

But the rest of the films over performed. Spider-man Homecoming earned the most since Amazing Spider-man. Thor was the highest grossing Thor film. GoTG 2 outgrossed the previous one. Logan did excellent for an R-rated film. Each installment was the highest grossing one of its franchise. WW is the highest grossing origin film. The only outlier is Justice League. An aberration in the overall trend.

Its all personal taste. I found 'I, Tonya' to be more enjoyable than JL and thats coming from a movie that you already know the story going in. JL was supposed to be fun, but it just came across as so flat and cheesy that I struggled with it. Acting is not even in question here. Allison Janey will be nominated for awards and Robbie also knocked it out of the park. Hard to compare that to Ezra Miler and Jason Mamoa being the most annoying characters ever to grace the big screen. Apples and oranges I guess.

Justice League did make it to the top 10 of domestic films in 2017. So even though it under-performed, it made more money domestic than 714 other movies released in 2017.
If there is superhero fatigue, why are 5 of the 7 superhero movies in the top 10. And Logan is 11. Only Power Rangers bombed.

I feel like DC Universe has been struggling for a very long time to introduce projects that have a mass appeal. By that I mean the average joe who isn't a comic fan. Not sure why, they just dont have the draw Marvel seems to.
