I purchased a few of those dust jacket protectors when I got back into collecting a couple years back, but my OCD just wasn't satisfied with how they went on and I ultimately gave up. I ended up just buying 2 copies of most books, 1 going straight on the shelf.

Just takes a bit of practice. I still don't get it right every time but I can kind of tell where I messed up if I did.

That mondo site is awesome, I signed up to their newsletter and followed them on twitter. Thinking about getting the planet hulk poster.

Does anyone know if the 5x5's can be disassembled properly? I want to get one, but I'm planning on moving in about a year and a half. Someone told me that these shelves don't dissemble/reassemble well.

I haven't taken mine apart yet, but I don't see why they wouldn't, it just the usual simple, cheap ikea stuff, once you have unscrewed the top, the rest should just pull apart

Personally, I buy just a single 5s and then stack them. The support is better and less prone to the whole shelf falling forward over time.

Hellboydce is correct - just unscrew the top screws and they come apart without any major trouble. At least mine did - I had to move and the only way to get my 5X5 up the stairs was to take it apart and put it back together. No issues at all.

From my experience usually ikea stuff is good go 1 to 2 major moves (disassembly and reassembly). After that you might have some issues bur you should be fine if you are careful.
