Jeff Lemire has pretty much confirmed he'll be writing the new Hawkman series coming out of Metal.

No.Lemire is writing the Hawkman Found tie in for Metal. It hasn't been confirmed, but Lemire has dropped hints that, if/when a new series drops, he would write it.

Regardless of who ends up writing it, we can all be assured that editorial will completely screw the character sooner than later, leaving him radioactive for years to come...

You realize you just created the new Hawkman/South Park crossover universe. This is all on you now. None of the rest of us can or will save you and to top it off you won't get a dime from it. Even in these days of Moore Kenny as the new Kendra is just too weird for me. Sorry.

Though I always thought he would be perfect on a team with Aquaman and Vixen, playing the role of DC's Wolverine.

Well, I thought it's been said the Hawkman from Metal is Khufu/Carter Hall (and that it was Katar Hol who died in the recent Death of Hawkman mini-series?), so if that's the case, there could be a JSA link.

Johns solo run on Hawkman is fantastic! It's what really got me into the character and why Hawkman makes my top 10 favorite DC characters.
