How is it that Rorschach is alive?
Oh, wait. I see. Never mind.

I have just read it. It is a good first issue that introduces a lot of questions and main points that are going to be developed throughout the series.

Even though it is sold as a Watchmen sequel, I don't think that it reads and feels anything close to Moore's work, despite seeing the intention of respecting its narrative.
It is a good thing that they reveal the fact that Rorscharch is not Kovacs anymore. I wonder who he might be. My bet is on either Dreiberg or a DC character like Luthor.
I have a question about Superman's dream: is the car accident a new thing from Rebirth? Or is it something introduced in this issue?
It's fine, it's close enough to the kind of writing Moore used to write the original... but that might have something to do with Rorschach being the one doing most of the talking/writing in this. The other Watchman appearing in this... I'll be honest and say he didn't sound like himself, but there is a reason why he might intentionally sounds a bit off.
Otherwise it's pretty much your regular set-up issue for these kinds of multi-team stories: establish threat, see Team 1 form to combat threat, tease the involvement of others.
I have a hunch that the next issue will see things mostly from the other (DC) side then finish with the Watchmen side of things.
Man this issue didn't live up to the hype about it being game changing and mind bending. I know it's only issue # 1 but jesus tapdancing christ this felt more like an Issue #0 or should have been at the very most an Action Comics lead in as it is very Countdown like only there is no action and raised more questions than answers. Now we have to wait yet ANOTHER month for this story to actually kick off.

I'm calling it now, the new Rorschach is related to Malcolm Long, the doctor who treated Rorschach in prison in issue #6 of Watchmen.
Yeah, I'm gonna be sitting this out. It wasn't bad by any stretch (Except for the Kents dying when Clark was so young, still hate that) but there's nothing here that really got me interested. I'll keep up with the threads so I can hear about any major developments actually related to the DCU, but I won't be reading the book itself.
I wonder if this series will follow the expository style throughout so that the heroes will only have a single rare fight or skirmish with the antagonists or each other while the major confrontation/battle superman vs Manhattan will be saved for the climax while the various threads of the plot are weaved. If so then the series will run into the danger of under exposure of some characters over others and maybe the good doctor won't appear till the last two issues unless there is a single issue devoted entirely to him to fill in what he was up to and what attracted him to the DC verse. Anyway I liked the new roscharchs portrayal and him teaming up with the most wanted man alive rather than being his opponent though he may well be planning to betray him or drugged to follow his bidding.
This was much, MUCH better than what I was expecting. Hell, much, MUCH better than it has any right to be.
I've mentioned before that I wasn't anticipating this (most people weren't to be honest) because Geoff Johns handling such complex characters and themes like the ones in Watchmen almost sounded like some sort of parody but this first issue worked quite well in several levels. The answer of Rorschach's appearance is quickly revealed and it fits with Johns's classic idea of legacy and this might be the best appearance of the antihero since the ending of the original story (surprisingly better to how Azzarello did it in Before Watchmen). Not to mention the introduction of characters that fit into Watchmen's universe that was full of superhero and supervillain archetypes. My only concern here is Ozymandias, I hope that Johns doesn't turn him into a Lex Luthor clone since that would completely miss the point of the character.
Even the writing is some of the densest things that I've read from Johns in a while, definitely inspired by Alan Moore while also delivering some surprises here and there. Frank's artwork clearly elevated the script. Promising stuff.
I thought it was good raised lot questions hopefully next issue will answers them I liked the art it felt like right tone for the watchmen's universe.
