No, I really don't think that is the point. In comics Doom represents evil, so it's IMO it's like the Ultimate Good vs Evil fight, comic book style.

Timothy Hunter 'cuz I'm reminded of that classic WB cartoon where Bugs Bunny realizes the bounty on rabbits is way too low so he goes on a spree of mischief which of course brings the reward for his head high. It also got everybody after him. Ah, good times. Bunnies are cute.
