You could also watch the Three Kingdoms series from 2010. The Red Cliff movies are about an event happening at one point during the entire Three Kingdoms period (ca. 180-280AD).

This channel has the entire series

Thanks to the OP for recommending Dark, I thought it was gripping.

Wish it hadn't gone the cliff-hanger route, though.

Red Snow and Red Snow 2. Troll Hunter live action not the cartoon. Norsemen with 2 seasons that I know about. Are Canadian films foreign? Stake Land 1 and 2.

I finished it today. Netflix recommended it to me practically at the same time as the OP did. It was an interesting take on spoilers:
    time travel
end of spoilers and very well crafted. I'll certainly watch a second series if it gets one.

If you like cheesy mysteries with some fbi vs crime plot along the way check out detective conan/ case closed. It's a teen detective who gets turned into a child by a crime group and he can't let anyone know it's him or they will kill everyone he cares about. He also gets taking in by him own girlfriend who does not know it's him!

Thy did two crossovers with luipn also!

I would suggest Akira big anime film that is considered a classic. I see Mononoke was mentioned and is another good choice, but most of studio ghibli works are a good choice for some anime basically the Japanese Disney. If you do not mind horror then I would suggest checking out Takashi Miike he is a Japanese horror director who has made a ton of movies, but they are very violent and very very disturbing at points.

HongKong movies were always great from directors like John Woo, Wong Kar-Wai's Chungking Express or Infernal Affairs to movies like the Drunken Master series
