I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:
Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
I'll cast my vote for PaulBullion! That all red Red Hulk cover was awesome!

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I loved David Aja's covers for the Scarlet Witch series. Almost used one of them myself
Honorable Mentions
Shalla Bal's Steranko cover with Polaris
The Darknight Detective and the Avengers #57 cover with the Vision in red by Buscema
ChadH and ASM #28 cover with The Molten Man vs Spider-Man
They all brought back fond memories of comics in our collection when my Dad would buy comics for us. IMO this is what made Marvel stand out on the newstands in that era...the artistic quality of their covers was striking for those times. They were going outside of the box, stop using word balloons at times and let the art speak for itself.
