I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

so how did rey end up on the falcon again? did chewie also gave her a hexbinaculartracking watch?
luke being rescued at the end of empire was a powerful bonding moment.
RJ doesn´t even bother with such a heroic rescue. he´d rather guilts chewie (no pun on my behalf) into becoming a vegan
(guess they don´t have cute animals on kashyyyk)
(pablo hidalgo was shown his place in the hirachy by the marketing division...)

what happened to the spy/traitor that planted the tracking device?
you see, in empire, the introduction is that the empire is putting up efforts to find the rebels.
TLJ the first order just has plot convenience

the personal misexpectation i am guilty of, was expectiong a real space battle on even terms and not the suicide charge of the 400 space spartians. cause i thought the bombers were nebula frigates mark x. n1 job trailer, bad job underwhelming final product

I will need to rewatch Empire, but I never remember Yoda wanting to train him. I know he said he was to old and yelled at him when he wanted to leave. That turned out to be the right thing to do in the end so Yoda dropped the ball on that one.

She asked Chewie to jump out but stay close and wait for her signal to pick them back up. Kylo and Hux said she stole Snoke's shuttle. So, clearly she signaled Chewie from that shuttle and got back on the Falcon.

and that doesn´t strike you as horrible storytelling? offscreen? you´d rather watch finn&rose save the poor doghorses then see chewie save rey?
rey escapes from a collapsing mega-super-hyper stardestroyer?
    not a single shot?
imagine luke not being shown escaping from the death star in RoTJ

She stole Snoke's shuttle and hopped aboard the Falcon. She had the Sword of Skywalker pieces after it broke in two. Kylo was left on the throne room floor. She clearly didn't need to be rescued.

The fathiers were cool and the Canto Bight stuff served the themes of the story (greed, apathy and failure).

You really wanted to see Rey docking Snoke's shuttle with the Falcon? Sounds boring.

no, but i need to see the effort. remember cloud city? leia says "chewie, turn around" lando "what? with all these interceptors?"
and chewie comfortably flies in and out among the combined FO fleet?
in empire they came out of an astroid field which would explain why tie fighters were docked.
but in this crawl chase? no fighters on patrol? even after no fighers led to the destruction of the dreadnought?

    maz kanata is a hack!

in TFA she shouts across the cantina and spoils any secrecy.
in TLJ she vouches for an unreliable contact.

what will this little bundle of mischieve be up to in IX?
her little scene heavyly implies that it will be handled atleast in another media

I think part of it is that we see Finn and Rose escape from the Mega Star Destroyer. Showing two sets of characters escaping likely would have felt redundant or just made the sequence overlong.

only limited by lack of imagination

Lando and Wedge are flying through it. It's easy to show them all make it out because they're travelling at high speed. There's also a race against the clock element for Luke (the only one traversing it on foot to the shuttle) as he has to get off before it explodes. In The Last Jedi, there's no "against the clock" element. Holdo's sacrifice cripples the ability of Snoke's ship to continue its attack on the shuttles, but the First Order is still able to operate at large as are the other survivors. The Last Jedi explains that Rey took a shuttle (I believe it's Snoke's shuttle, IIRC). They don't show it. I'm sorry that didn't work for you, but these aren't really equivalent sequences in terms of their narrative weight or focus.

Plus, it's already a two hour and a half movie. I reckon a whole bunch of non-essential scenes got cut.

an escape from a collapsing capital ship isn´t a race against the clock? the lack of sound shot sure implied some drama...
in RotJ the imperial fleet was in utter chaos, while in TLJ they were organized and were still pushing for an assault.
and these chewie heroics are not of narrative weight? really?
i give you poopoo prog eyes

There's no evidence the capital ship is collapsing at any speed. Hux, Ren, and Phasma are three characters who should be aware of the situation, and the first spends time trying to kill the second while the third gets into a melee fight with Finn. I'm talking about the escape sequence which comes after Holdo's sacrifice. There are no Chewie heroics - that's presumptive. I'm not trying to change your mind about how you view the omission of Rey's escape, but it is not the same as the RotJ escape.

There was yet another guy at the casino who had that rose and was the right guy. DJ was another hacker they found in prison, who helped them to escape.

In TFA, was it needed for her to maintain any secrecy when Han Solo had come? There was no indication that it was rebel business when he brought Rey and Finn to her. Han was not associated with the rebels any more at that point of time.
