    Default Triangle Relationships

Alright, here's a question: what relationship do you think the three primary ladies in Peter's life, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, and Felicia Hardy, should have with each other away from Peter. Not the one they had in canon(s), but that you would be most interested to see. I mean, how would relate more to each others' personalities, not how they relate in their romantic pursuit of Peter. This may come up, but is not the only way they'd interact. (Please, no "they should just share him" comments. This is in keeping that he's strictly monogamous).

In my mind, I'd assume that, as long as Gwen's alive, she's who Peter's going to be with. While I'm mostly pro-MJ, his relationship with Gwen is an important stepping stone to him eventually getting together with MJ, and to MJ maturing enough to be in a committed relationship with anyone, so if all three are alive, she's the one who's currently getting the guy.

Gwen (going with her Amazing movies personality, since her comics counterpart really didn't have a consistent one) would be friends with MJ, with one of those dynamics where one friend is responsible and keeps things in order, and the other friend helps the responsible one to let their hair down every now and then. Even though they are mutually friends with Peter, at this point, MJ's not willing to settle down with anyone, so there's not much in the way of a rivalry for Peter. It's not that she won't flirt, it's just that she's not mature enough yet to accept the responsibility a relationship would require. Thus, while Gwen has Peter, there's not much jealousy, and the two of them just hang out a lot. They are fairly close, though. MJ is fun to be around (if a bit flighty) and Gwen is MJ's strongest grounding. Gwen's friendship means a lot to MJ, enough that when Gwen eventually dies, it's enough to force MJ to mature enough to try to comfort her friend's grieving boyfriend (thus starting the spark in Peter and MJ's relationship.)

Gwen and Felicia's, however, would have a lot of jealousy. Black Cat makes no bones about it she wants Spider-Man, and has no problem with breaking up his current relationship to do so. As a result, Gwen doesn't like Felicia in the slightest, though she'd try to hide it to not seem like the clingy, jealous girl. Though, even without the mutual interest, they wouldn't really like each other. Even though Gwen is close to MJ despite her immaturity, it's because MJ is, ultimately a nicer person than Felicia (let us not forget Felicia did team up with the Foreigner to try to destroy Spidey. Say what you want about Mary Jane, she never teamed with an assassin even at her worst moments.) Thus, Felicia's irresponsibility mixed with her willingness to hurt people to spite them make Gwen strongly dislike her. Meanwhile Cat can't stand Gwen's goody-goody, Little Miss Responsible nature (which Black Cat is convinced is either a show or a mental disorder.) Whenever (if ever) they were in the same room together, there would be a clear, but unmentioned, ice in the air. After Gwen's death, Felicia would either do one of two things: either she'd try to come on to Peter while he's grieving (making it way too soon, causing a strain in their relationship), or she'd find his grieving tiring, and stay away until he's perked up a bit (mistakenly allowing Peter and MJ's relationship to grow).

That air would be an all-out snark fest between Felicia and MJ. Before Gwen's death, they'd probably be an almost friendly way of beating on each other, with them trading sarcastic one liners between each other. It'd be acknowledged they might have been friends, if it wasn't for the fact that Felicia was trying to take Gwen's boyfriend, and MJ would have more loyalty to her older friend. Still, they'd tolerate each other better than Felicia and Gwen, but it would be vitriolic friendship at best. After Gwen's death, their relationship would probably get colder for a while, but thaw out a bit more once Peter chose one of them and the other got over it. (My money would be on MJ, since she would be more likely to mature, and Peter seems to be more into mature girls.) This would mirror the relationship they had during the marriage years, before You-Know-What destroyed both their characters. Things would get back to normal, and they would accept each other's help, albiet they'd never be called very close.

Any other ideas (please, keep it to the girls' personalities. You could mention their relation to Peter, but only in how the relationship would cause their personalities to clash.)

Black Cat and Gwen Stacy weren't around at the same time, but a Spider-Gwen/ Black Cat team-up could be interesting.

Considering current circumstances in Spider-Gwen's comic with that universe's Felicia being locked up by S.H.I.E.L.D. after her attempt on Matt Murdock's life and Spider-Gwen bonded with that universe's version of the Venom symbiote and about to go after Matt herself . . . hmm, maybe Felicia could be good backup.
The spider is always on the hunt.
