    ________

    Name: Aiden Cromwell

    Race/Species: Primogen/Nosferatu

    Age: Late 30s

    Height/Weight: 6'2 / 188 lbs

    Appearance: Link

Power Level: Roughly +8000 when last seen

    Style: Youkai Fist

    Techniques

    See: Karine Cromwell

    Items:

Cromwell Family Crest: An "heirloom" medallion made as a vainglorious commission at the start of his mercenary career.

Locket: A simple chrome locket with a family picture of his family.

    Special:

Accelerated Healing: Nosferatu naturally heal faster than normal people (ie: A cut would take a minute, a broken bone an hour.)
    Telepathy: Power dependent on range
Dark Vision: Can see in areas even when there is no light.
Shadow Mastery: The natural ability of the Primogen brought to greater levels through practice of the Youkai Fist. Used defensively (Shadow-Walking, Darkness Shielding) and offensively (Weapon Constructs, Shadow Binding)
Nosferatu Weaknesses: Prolonged water exposure will physically weaken them, but not fatally. Silver is poisonous and stops their healing factor.

    History

Aiden Cromwell was a distant blood descendant of the old Nosferatu aristocracy. In older times he would have been a Baron, but anything he might have inherited had since been squandered generations ago and the deeds to his family name faded to history. Yet the old culture, stuffy and violent as it could be, was very important to him. As the sun sets on the Primogen race's time from hubris throughout the ages, this new era was one of integration and assimilation with the rest of humanity. Yet Aiden never quite felt like he belonged in human society because he was not one of them. To the contrary, he strived to stand out and wanted to be remembered. His continued practice of the Youkai Fist, a dying martial tradition he worked diligently to keep alive, was the main thing could base his pride upon. This respect for legacy became the foundation of a family ethos he would pass on to Karine and all of his children: know where you come from, and be proud of who you are.

The Primogen are a proud people, even in the twilight years of their kind. This world where family names are currency still excludes lowly members of their fading race from entering inner circles, a dying echo of times long past, with their numbers dwindled to a handful of blueblood aristocrats gathered in the dark. Twice a year during the Eve of the Equinox, there is a gathering of the descendants of noble houses, and it was here he met his future wife Nikki, a flat-footed dancer in a pretentious masquerade. Plainly she did not belong here, for she was ambitious, fearless, and unpretentious. As Aiden carried her on his feet through the movements of the Csardas, he found her gentle strength magnetic. This stagnant high-society stuff was not worth the airs they had to put on, so they bailed out of the society of nobility and ran away together. To hell with traditions not worth saving, they had each other, that was enough.

However happiness doesn't pay the bills, or sate the feeling that he was meant to do greater things, and as much as he loved Nikki he couldn't bring her any farther than the violent streets of Kleim. As the world of humans brought the Primogen into the light, he could not swallow his pride as a Cromwell, as a man, and stay his hand to do something mediocre. Even though they were privy to a shadier world, with a child on the way he couldn't wear the mask of a simple human labourer any more and turned to the strength of the Youkai Fist to see him through. Using his heritage of darkness and his knowledge of the world's underbelly, he pushed malevolent forces deeper into the shadows - for a price. Soon he and the local authorities came to an understanding: If there was some case too strange, unsolvable, or unable to be met by conventional force, they would come to Aiden. Case by case, battle after battle, he finally had the means to move Nikki up in the world and do his old family name proud. In time, Aiden established a small Cromwell Barony of his own.

Of course some eyes are watching closer than others, and that caught the attention of the Galactic Patrol. The distance from his family during space sector missions - as well as a bit of an independent rogue streak - stifled his work and he left them. When too many cases were let go due to protocol, paperwork, and other bureaucratic rank-and-file procedures, he turned in the uniform when administration got in the way of serving justice. Though it salved his pride, the new Cromwell Barony was back at square one. Outwardly he was an unshakable rock for his family, but that was a mask he wore he began to train his daughter Karine.

On one of these training runs in the night sky of Kleim, he found his daughter in the company of a Saiyan boy. Innocence was tempered by naivety, but to have a member of this race of fugitives - and with his daughter no less – suddenly appear so close to home nearly put him over the edge. But Aiden soon discovered that the Saiyan was not alone and parental wrath does not favour one child exclusively. That was the day he met Tasure and - after a brief skirmish - Nosferatu and Saiyan alike discovered they had much in common; And she was looking for for talent to join the Riskbreakers.

Success found the Cromwell family once more, and after his first mission with the Riskbreakers compant, Tasure's family pulled some strings and they ended up moving next door together on Earth. Everything seemed to be going right and the future was secure. Then the day came where Tasure and Totoma departed for the Vejituh mission. In the aftermath, it was Aiden himself who recovered Tasure's remains and Totoma's broken body, and while he fostered the boy in his grief, the absence of his mother was a void they could never fill. The guilt and helplessness he felt that day had haunted him ever since. A moment's weakness, a second's neglect, and everything he'd worked to build as a warrior, a father, and a man came crashing down around him. As Totoma's soul slipped further over the years, this drove a darkling obsession with finding who was responsible for Tasure's death. Throwing himself into the deepest levels of Shadow-Mastery within the Youkai Fist, he reached new levels as he accessed the potential of his bloodline. Eventually, he found a lead, a glimmer in the frontier edge of space and a name.

Aiden departed without warning on that day many years ago and has not been seen since.

Ah, gotcha. I can understand that particular problem.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

Default Why Ishtar's Punches and Headbutts Have Funny Names Pt. 1 (AKA Zurvan is an Ass)

    Overview

The path that Ishtar embarked upon after accepting Zurvan's offer was a strange one. Outside of the initial trappings, there is little resembling the traditional style of martial training- teacher/student- and was largely dependent on Ishtar's ability to glean understanding from the world(s) around her. Of course, in the beginning Zurvan stood as a guiding influence. Luring her to a designated area with the intention of teaching her about his 'sons', with the promised answers at which point he would teach her. These sons, of course represented the archetypal ideas of creation (and all of the good associated with such), and destruction (and all of the bad associated with such).

After such lessons were taught however, Zurvan's influence was minimal. Only serving the function of selecting worlds and at times civilizations, for her to 'study' as he watched and waited. These 'lessons', varied in their length, some taking comparatively little time for Ishtar to pick up; with others lasting several hundred, to several thousand years. Upon attaining the understanding of a given lesson, however, Zurvan would usually appear (in the guise of someone/thing else) and test what she had learned. Should her insight prove acceptable, Zurvan would then reveal himself and there would be a recovery period where the Oni could meditate, ask questions, and enjoy the company of Zurvan- whom she came to view as a father figure- before being sent away again; in a repetition of the process. Of note, there are only two instances in which this function was not performed as intended; and the final instance served to sever the connection between Zurvan and what was ultimately his first, and last, disciple.

    Of the Twins

The lessons instilled in Ishtar in the above mentioned method, are all very loosely based on the six 'Bounteous Spirits' (Amesha Spenta), and the six 'Wrong Gods/False God's [to be rejected]' (Daeva) of the Zoroastrian Faith, and specifically the heretical 'Zurvanite Zoroastrianism'. Each set of six, is considered to be the cardinal attributes of the two 'Sons', Ahura Mazda (the Mighty/Lord of Wisdom), and Angra Mainyu (the Destructive Spirit). As is understood in Zurvanite Zoroastrianism, these two are twin brothers and the sons of Zurvan, the First Principle (or primordial creator deity) and while both sons are equal they are opposites, one the embodiment of good, the other of evil ... and this decision to be the respective champions of creation, and destruction is by choice, with Angra Mainyu choosing to be evil. Something that is noted on by the 5th Century Christian Armenian writer, Enzik of Kolb:

"He is evil through his own wish, not from the fact of his birth." - Eznik, De Deo 2.8 (ed. Paris, 1924).

And as an aside, to prove this point Angra Mainyu is said to have been responsible for the creation of the Peacock. A bird that while beautiful, has been noted as 'obsessive over food, and aggressively so' ... to the point where they were removed from Zoos. So basically they're little assholes (also startlingly similar to a tail sporting race of aggressive monkey people minus the Zoo). In any case ... the role of these two figures is rather minimal in comparison to their cardinal attributes, because, in learning about the 'bounteous spirits', and 'false gods' you come to understand the sons themselves.

Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran

Naturally, I like the bio and character.

    ...

Though if Totoma were to find out that he was the reason Aiden died/disappeared, he'd... not take it well. At all. Like, Aiden's almost on par with his mother in his mind, which is... saying something, since there's only one person he values above those two. And that person shouldn't be hard to guess.
