Pickled herring. I can clear a room pretty quick when I break out a plate of that.

Also my entire family questions my sanity because I like to eat the fuzzy rind of kiwi fruit.

My mother always told me not to take it when we went to a buffet in case of food poisoning or something, but I always dumped some on my plate anyway.

Heh. I remember going to a Howard Johnson (when they were everywhere and not down to one restaurant like today) back in the early '70s with my family and eating the parsley garnish. I liked it, too, but my parents told me it was only decorative. Still, they didn't forbid me to eat, so I did then and still do today if I'm that hungry.

At Thanksgiving dinner, I eat almost all the celery and radishes on the table, because I really like them and no one else much does, compared with the other dishes.
I won't go to town on them, but I'll much on some if present.

I also put Tabasco sauce on grits. I'm not sure whether that's unusual or not.
I put pepper on mine, so why not that? In fact, I just might start adding some Tabasco or Texas Pete to mine from now on.

I like it on hot dogs, but not smothered on them. Cooked with pork, OTOH, the more the merrier!

I have GOT to find a buffet that has pickled herring. This is my New Year’s resolution.

I don't actually love shrimp tails, but they're pretty good and I'm the only person I know who eats them.

I don't know that it's so much that folks "Hate" grits. I just don't think lots of folks are in any big hurry to eat them.

That said, this corner of the discussion did remind me that "Fried Catfish Tails" is probably one.

    Maybe green Jello?

I've heard folks don't care for it.

I don't have a problem with it myself, FWIW.

Some more things I couldn't stand as a kid but love as an adult: peanut butter (that was the worst - the smell would make me nauseous), black olives, black licorice, black jelly beans (no, it wasn't a color thing - I have always liked black pepper ), and raisins.

On Long Island where I used to live, there was a restaurant called Cooky's Steak Pub that was, I believe, the first to offer a buffet back then. That's where I first ate pickled herring 40-something years ago. Think it was the first place I ever ate banana nut bread, too.
