Just tried some Texas Pete on my butter grits. Terrific! That will be part of my grits mix from now on. Thanks for the idea, seismic-2!

Which reminds me of one thing I'm not crazy about: peppers beyond jalapeño heat. Not because of the taste, but I just don't get a kick out of having my mouth on fire for 5-10 minutes. When I was younger, my brothers, friends, and I would test our courage with them and, while I didn't falter, it was borderline masochistic. I love spicy food and will use or ask for chili powder, cayenne pepper, curry, red pepper, Tabasco (especially the Habanero version) etc., but I stay away from the fire-breathing stuff.

Nah. Put Tabasco (or whatever hot sauce) on everything, except sweet stuff-- that's when it starts to get unusual. Your favourite hot sauce is pretty bog standard. Grits by themselves (or even with just salt) are bland as heck, so you want to season them with something (anything).

My stepfather puts sugar on his grits. That's odd, but not unheard of.

As a kid, I used to call black olives "dog noses." Love 'em. Apparently, calling veggies random meat parts was a thing for me.

Licorice (color is irrelevant, I mean the flavour) -- As a kid, there was a local bakery that sold Italian-style anise (licorice) cookies. They were my favourite. I never cared much for red Twizzlers or Redvines, but I love licorice ropes and Good & Plenty.

Boogers, fingernails, and scabs. They're tasty and affordable.

I'm confused. Wouldn't the foods you mentioned NOT be vegan?

Eating your boogers doesn't have anything to do with animal exploitation or cruelty.

EDIT: But they do have to be locally sourced and organic

So your choice is no cruelty? Which is fine, I'm not judging. Just that what you mentioned were technically animal products. Unless, of course, there's something about you we don't know.

Seriously, though, organic booger are rare. But they are usually very local.

People who say they hate grits and love oatmeal have just never tried grits.

I love oatmeal. I have never tried grits. Maybe it is the name? Are they really "gritty"? If so, I don't think I want to eat something that is gritty.

Salad cream on toast. I love it but everyone else I know seem to find the idea of it disgusting LOL.

They're gritty if you eat them raw, but then oatmeal would be, too. Once you cook them, they're basically mushy like oatmeal, but maybe just a bit crunchier. The breakfast cereal that's impossible to eat is Grape-Nuts. No matter what you do to them, they are still hard as BB pellets.

Eggplant parmigiana over white rice. It's a caloric/carb bomb of a nightmare but IDGAF. Italian food like Italian women are gifts from the almighty. I shall no deprive myself of either.

Super hoppy beers. The more hops the better IMO.
Sour beers. Very refreshing in the summer. Sour fruity beers especially.
